Old But Effective!, January 26, 2006
This review is from: John Madden on Football [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Want to know the difference between a free safety and a strong safety? Who comes out in a nickel defense? What's the key to being a good center? Madden uses a Hall of Fame list of players to explain both verbally and through the use of classic footage the basics of each position and the strategy of game. I've shown this one hour tape to foreign Soccer fans and each and all (who thought that football was basically a bunch of guys smashing into each other)have walked away with a new respect and understanding of the game. Veteran fans will learn too!

No Coach in Pro Football history won 100 games faster! (pls. read on...), June 15, 2006
This review is from: John Madden on Football [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Big John Madden is now in the NFL
Pro Football Hall-of-Fame and
won 112 games faster than any
Coach in any/all Pro Football
League(s). He is a virtual ency-
clopedia of Football knowledge.
Once one of the greatest NCAA
O-linemen, Madden destroyed his
right knee two plays into his
rookie season with the Philly
Eagles in 1958. He spent the
next year also on I.R. He be-
came like a sponge, absorbing
all the knowledge in QB Norm
Van Brocklin's head and kept
notebook after notebook of info
on Football. Al Davis and Al
Locasale raised a lot of eyebrows
when they tabbed the obscure for-
mer college Ast. Coach to be the
Raiders boss in '69, but the or-
ganization was very much rewar-
ded by their choice. 1-0 in Super
Bowl XI, with Madden at the helm.
Don't miss all the good books by
John also including one about -
tailgating!
