This is an awesome product for that messy, beachy hair we all crave, provided you scrunch your hair enough after towel drying. Just a side note: I have long naturally blonde hair and I noticed that this product would lighten my hair in the sun whenever I would use it for a few days in a row.... which is awesome for me, but other people might not like that effect.
I also realized after using my bottle up that I could remake it for SO much less money! I just refill it with 1 tsp- 2tsp of sea salt, distilled water, and a few drops of lavender essential oil. Totally understand if DIY is not your thing, but also wanted to share in case it was! (:

This product only contains three ingrediants which I love. John Masters Organics Sea Mist gives my hair that beachy look and I love the lavendar smell! My husband loves the way it makes my hair look. The first time I used it he noticed a difference right away!

i have very fine, straight hair but i have a lot of it. it usually hangs pretty limp when i let it air dry, but this stuff helps give it some body and texture. the previous reviewer mentions it making her hair big and stiff but maybe hers is not as fine as mine, i didn't really have that problem. it is a true lavender scent which i love but it isn't particularly strong or long lasting. not a perfect product, but i'm giving it 5 stars because it is organic as well.

Pros:
--ALL NATURAL
--smells great
--actually has sea salt in the ingredients
--adds some messy waves to hair
--pretty big bottle, lasts a while
--keeps hair from getting oily quick

Cons:
--doesn't add much texture: if your hair is fine, it will stay fine with a few scrunchy waves; if your hair already has some waves, it will enhance them. My hair is medium thickness with some natural waves, so this adds some natural staying power to the curls, without all that curl cream/gel/mouse stuff. The way I do it, to keep hair from getting frizzy, is after I spray it, I pin up my hair in many little twisted sections and leave it to dry. That way, it comes out WAY curly and stays for nearly a week.
--I would recommend this for people who's hair is medium to thick and with some natural wave, as it creates manageable style without all the heavy products. Also, if you hair is straight but has the kind of texture that holds waves. Bumble & Bumble, though, adds much more texture.

It's still not comparable to a dip in the ocean, but I guess nothing is....

Here's the trick to using this spray successfully: before styling, protect your ends first with gel or smoothing/straightening product, spray the mist directly at your roots, and don't overdo it (I spray it only at the crown). Of course, I'm not looking for that wavy 'beachy' look, just for volume, so your mileage may vary. I have fine, thin hair that always looks limp and gets oily within hours of washing. John Masters Organics Sea Mist Spray works much better for me than any other volumizing product I've ever tried, keeping my hair fresh much longer and making it look much fuller. I love that it's so simple and natural, not packed with nasty possibly carcinogenic chemicals like so many other products. If you're not a fan of lavender, fear not - the smell fades quickly.

I don't use this all the time, as I am wary of salt drying out my hair, but I wish I could! If you use this after you have towel dried your hair and just let it air dry--wow. I have never had my hair dry so perfectly, in even, soft, nice-smelling waves.

If you co-wash your hair, beware--you need to really use shampoo to get this product out (as I found out, because I co-wash), and if you apply it too many days in a row without washing it out, your hair will get a bit hard. Wash your hair every other day or every three days and this product will amaze you. It also stops your hair from getting greasy as quickly because of the drying salt--very nice.

I previously used a salt spray that i LOVED. Unfortunately I didn't realize it contained wheat and I'm allergic to wheat so whenever I used it I had a bad reaction. With that said John Masters is okay, but just didn't quite live up. It doesn't seem to add much waviness to my hair like my previous spray did. So it's just okay.

I'd never tried a sea mist/salt spray before and never thought it would do anything for my naturally oily, straight hair. I tried this based on recommendations from beauty mags and blogs and I'm in love! It doesn't give me any waves since I don't naturally have them, but it amps up the volume on my hair like a magic potion. I sprayed it sparingly on damp hair and blow dried, the result was 30% fuller head of hair. It would probably give me lasting waves if I sprayed it on just-dried hair and twisted it up in a bun for a while. I also use it in place of dry shampoo. It makes my oily hair look like I'd just washed it. I can skip a shampoo and not look greasy. It's so much better than dry shampoo powders that over-dry hair and leave it stiff and lifeless. The lavender oil offsets any stiffness that the salt creates leaving my hair very natural looking and soft. And I love the subtle lavender scent and that it is 100% natural and organic. Yes, it's a bit pricey for what it is, but the bottle is pretty big and a little goes a long way. I want to buy cases of this stuff in case they ever stop making it. Please don't ever stop making this!
