Following the success of Clint Black and Garth Brooks, a lot of new young singers were given a chance to make their name in country music. Although John is not actually my favorite among them, he is certainly one of the best.

This is a stunning hits collection, including two songs that became more famous via cover versions (I swear and I can love you like that).

Another excellent song is I love the way you love me, written partly by the brilliant singer-songwriter Victoria Shaw, who recorded three outstanding albums of her own, all unfairly overlooked by American country radio.

Actually, all the songs are excellent. John demonstrates his ability to sing songs brilliantly in a variety of tempos and moods, but particularly love songs. This is a great collection of 1990's country which should appeal to traditional country fans who can accept a little modernisation.

John Michael Montgomery's 1997 collection GREATEST HITS spans his albums with his best known hits. He was very popular in the '90s, but lately has been struggling to make it on country radio. It's a shame, as evidence here, that he makes some good music. From the instantly catchy "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)", to the sentimental ballad "I Love The Way You Love Me", there are many dimensions to this artist. His hits "I Swear" and "I Can Love You Like That" were covered by pop group All4One but pale in comparison to the originals. The new track "Angel In My Eyes" is a touching ballad. Other hits include "Life's a Dance", "Cowboy Love", "Friends" and more. Overall a treat for fans and admirers alike.

Without a doubt, this is one of the best Greatest Hits albums that I have and probably one of the best ever. It shows JMM's talent better than any other album and it has most of his hits. JMM can do it all when it comes to singing. There are all around great love songs ("I Love The Way You Love Me"), some songs that are almost like country/rap ("Sold" and "Be My Baby Tonight"), and everything in between ("Life's A Dance"). JMM is one of the few country singers that has enough talent to be able to sing a song as fast as "Sold" and to also make a lot of chart toppers in a matter of only a few years.

If you like country music, then you will probably like this album because JMM can do it all! He's one of the best country singers out there today.

If you enjoy country music, this is a great cd. There is all of his great songs on one cd! If you don't have it go get it!

This could possibly be the best song of all time . Everytime My fiance and I listen to it , we just smile at each other and any arguments between us are gone . It hits a cord with both of us . I hope he continues his great work .

In a word, feeling, that's what sets John Michael apart from so many of the new country artists. His country upbringings show threw in all his songs. An artist who will stand the test of time.

John Michael Montgomery's music got me hooked on country music at the age of sixteen. I like his up-tempo songs, such as "Sold, The Grundy County Auction Incident," "Be My Baby Tonight," "Life's A Dance," and "If You've Got Love." I like his power with ballads more, though. You name it, I like them all: "I Love The Way You Love Me," "Friends," "I Can Love You Like That," "No Man's Land," "I Swear," and "Angel In My Eyes." But my personal favorite song on this album is his beautiful tribute to his father, "I Miss You A Little." This song brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. You could just feel the pain and emotion he sung the song with. It was heart-wrenching. Keep the hits coming, John Michael!!!!!

John Michael Montgomery is an excellent singer with so much emotion in his voice. I absolutely love all of these songs and recommend this CD to any country music lover. Keep up the good work John Michael!

i am not a big john michael fan but i enjoy his songs. this collection has all his songs that i enjoy on it. if you are a big fan and do not have all his cds then you need to own this cd.
