I purchased this Mah Jongg Game to take on trips. It is light weight and very portable. It is an authentic Mah Jongg set for anyone that plays the American rules.Travel Mah Jong

This is a great set of brightly colored Mah Jong tiles, scaled for travel because they are thinner than standard tiles. But the faces of the tiles are standard size, so they can be read easily.

I did wonder why a "travel set" came in a thin cardboard box. Who would travel with that?

But I solved this problem by going to the Container Store and purchasing an Eagle Creek packing cube (comes with a handle!) in the 14 inch size. Everything (including my rule book and the 2009 cards) fit perfectly and I am now ready to travel!

Be sure and take the racks and a large Ziploc Bag with all of the tiles with you when you go shopping for a case so that you can be sure that everything will fit.

This is a portable mahjong set. The tiles are lightweight enough to bring along for travel. The box though is not as sturdy and strong but the game components are durable and strong. This is a great game for mental exercise and mind stimulation. Fun game!

I've just become an earnest mahjong player and wanted an extra set to have for travel and vacation home. I thought this would be perfect, even though I realized tiles would be thinner and not have fun tactile feel. Yet,tiles are thinner, more brittle and harder to read than I expected. The worst part though is the tile rack is not long enough to hold all the tiles all at once so it's hard to use when trying to form a hand. I recommend spending more money to get a better set.

Almost as large as regular Mah Jongg set, but more portable. I really like it. Recommend.

I was very pleased when I received this game. I took a chance thinking it was like a Scrabble game. To my pleasant surprise, the tiles are bigger than Scrabble tiles. I use it to learn how to choose a hand and be able to switch hands while playing. I have become a good player. I only started lessons three months ago and now I will be helping to teach classes. It will also be helpful once again when the new hands come out in early April. I recommend this game to all new players. I also bring it along to use in case we need another set. It is much lighter than the regular games.

My father and I bought this game when he was first confined to a wheelchair. We never even got to play the game because, despite hours of effort, we could not understand the directions. It explains very little of how to actually play the game, and my father mentioned that it is very different from other forms of Mah Jongg he has played in the past (based on what little we could understand from the instruction booklet). I suppose I would recommend this set to anyone who already knows how to play (or knows someone who does). It is actually very durable, and the set was larger than I imagined. It's about the size of an average board game.

I received the Travel Mah Jongg on time. I love it! I have a set of ceramic Mah Jongg tiles, which is very heavy to carry from place to place and impossible to carry on an airplane trip! I can easily pack this set in my carry-on and have no problems with the addtl weight. Yeah! I'm set for Mah Jongg on the go!

Even though this is the travel version it is still pretty big--as big as a standard Monopoly game. The instruction book is written in confusing broken English and I had to look up the directions on the internet.
