This is advertised as a puzzle and alot of the parts are preassembled but have to be taken apart again to build the kit.Care must be taken while taking it apart and back together again because each time the holding tabs get a little more loose and you can damage the pre-painted finish or clear parts. The cockpit consoles are silver where as they should be grey. The paint job is good but the tile pattern and markings are wrong for the Discovery but these are small gripes. The RCS control systems in the nose and tail are greatly simplified but this is supposed to be an educational kit not a scale model.I think this is a great price on a kit that was close to $200.00 when released and was a must have for me since the shuttle fleet will soon be history. The main engines and piping are a work of art even though they look a little oversized to me.I repainted the faces of the blob like figures and have had some great input from friends with this on my desk. This kit actually seals up great with no glue but I still glued alot of the smaller pieces so I wouldn't end up having to take the kit apart again. The instructions are now in English and have a brief history of the shuttle.I should add that the cargo bay looks great and has chrome plated parts for the inner doors.I think even though far from being 100% accurate this still looks great and is a great model for any science teacher or real space buff because this is part of history. All small gripes aside I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.Make sure you have room for this monster because it's over a foot and 1/2 long!

Like the first reviewer, I am 100% satisfied. Maybe more than 100%. There are some simplifications, but nothing that is not appropriate for a model this size. True the tile pattern is off, but who would know? I do think it's a little funny that they don't show the outline of the crew hatch, even though this is on a transparent section. On the other hand, the degree of detail of the main engine plumbing is impressive, especially when you consider that you don't see this very well when the model is assembled. It was good advice from the first reviewer to glue down some pieces, as they could fall loose and rattle around. I glued a couple of the crew members down, and should have glued all of them--maybe I will get to this sometime. If you remove the guy on EVA, you can close the bay doors nicely. The landing gear look like they can come down, though I haven't tried this. The instructions are rather brief. All done in diagrams, but don't expect the kind of detailed instruction you get with legos. Part of the fun is figuring out how to take the partially assembled model apart, so you can insert more parts. Reviews on other sites complain that the parts don't line up and fit right. I found the fit to be remarkably good, but it does take more patience and care than some people will be used to. The base is fairly sturdy for a plastic base, and the angle is adjustable. But it is also wobbly. (Hence the lower rating for durability.) With a metal stand, this model would be nearly suitable for museum display. Serious model builders may want to build a custom stand. Still, most of us will be very happy with this model as is. The instruction manual correctly notes that there won't be many more shuttle flights. This model is a worthy representation of the space shuttle's place in history.

This review is from: 4D: Space Shuttle Model (Toy)
I was amazed with the product when it arrived, especially its value for money. On that note the model is VERY big, so be aware of this when purchasing, you'll need to find a big space to display it in. The detail is great and the model snapped together with relative ease - no need to cut any pieces into shape, or no need for glue. I would recommend this for mature collectors interested in aviation or the space programme, but not ideal for children, lots of fragile little parts. Overall, I'd say the model is better than I expected when I placed my order. So if you're a fan of the shuttle programme, you need to add this to your collection - if you have the space, it is big!
