Provides a good understanding of the game,
By A Customer
This review is from: John Patrick's Craps: So You Wanna Be a Gambler' (Paperback)
Although the book can be a little preachy, John Patrick takes you thoroughly through every aspect of the game. If you want to get serious about craps, this is the book to read. Not for aggressive gamblers who want to hit it big overnight.

If you ever played or wanted to play craps, read this book.,

This is without a doubt John Patricks best book. If you are confused by the game of craps - read this book! If you play but find yourself losing in the end - read this book! If you think you are a good craps player - read this book and find out for sure! This books money management and discipline systems changed me from a pathetic gambler to one of, if not, the best in the casino. Do not go into a casino again without learning John's money management and discipline systems.

A must-buy if you want to play craps,

This review is from: John Patrick's Craps: So You Wanna Be a Gambler' (Paperback)
John Patrick is probably one of the most controversial gambling authors in America. My personal opinion is that he is sexist and egotistical --- but if you have ever stood at a craps table for longer than ten minutes, you just can't argue with his Big Four and Little Three. There is a lot of repetition in both this book and the Advanced Craps book, but that's because we gamblers tend to be greedy and undisciplined, and it takes someone telling us something TWENTY TIMES before we get it through our thick heads. Every time I have lost big, it has been because I have violated one of John's cardinal rules. The systems? Well, no system is perfect, so take them or leave them, but memorize the Big Four, Little Three, and all the information that goes with them. (Hopefully, John has worked out his few editing snafu's by now...*grin*).

This is a good book to start to take you to the next level (from beginner to intermediate) as a craps player. JP has some interesting and thought provoking betting strategies & lays it all out for you. Only negative is his constant editorializing. Skip over it.

The Only Way to Beat the Tables,
By A Customer
This review is from: John Patrick's Craps: So You Wanna Be a Gambler' (Paperback)
John Patrick is, by far, the authority on gambling- especially at the tables. I have gone from loser (big time) to winner by studying his books and methods. John Patrick's Craps contians not only the best approach to craps ever put on paper, but also gives the reader a foundation with which to attack all games in a casino. My personal experience with Mr. Patrick's books has enabled me to master five different table games. I have become known and respected by many casino personal in Reno, NV as a tough player. I win small amounts consistently. Futhermore, the foundation I have recieved has enabled me to actually learn how to be a competitor (and a fierce one at that) at the low-limit poker games in the Nevada casinos. Be forwarned: John's style is like that of a coach. If you are really timid or thin-skinned, it may not be the book for you (then again, gambling may not be for you either). But, if you are a competitor whose desire is to win, this and all of Mr. Patrick's books are priceless!

Best Book on Craps I have read,
By
This review is from: John Patrick's Craps: So You Wanna Be a Gambler' (Paperback)
This book is great! It covers a number of right betting techniques, then the don't side then a few hedges and finaly puts them all together in a trend system that wins for me at the $5 table. I have won $540 in 4 sessions starting with a $220 buy in each time (I had one really good session, 2 pretty good, and one loss). And I gave back $100 after I had ended a couple of sessions proving that the displine section of this book is the hardest to master. It is tough to quit when you are ahead... really tough. But at least this book can get you ahead. The rest is up to you. I found this book as complex if not more so than his book titled "Advanced Craps". If you want to stop playing stupid, read this book and play by the rules.

Systems, systems, systems,
This review is from: John Patrick's Craps: So You Wanna Be a Gambler' (Paperback)
Although this book is a bit preachy, I think it is one of Patrick's best. There are many good systems in this book. You may not agree with them, but that is what various theories are all about. The book is readable, laid out well, and very easy to understand. GIve this book a chance.

Dishonest Conman making money on books not gambling.,

At the very premiere location on John Patrick's website is this testimonial....
======================= "Last night I walked away from the casino having turned a $1000.00 bankroll into $8381.00. I'm glad I learned about the WIN GOALS and LOSS LIMITS or I would have blown my $1000 on a few games and tables. Tomorrow, I will do it all over again. I don't ALWAYS turn such a huge profit but I always turn SOME PROFIT each day of gambling under your system. I have even applied your system further than you mention. I am lucky enough to live in a location with a big choice of casinos. If a CASINO is cold for me, I've learned to apply the DISCIPLINE enough to leave that casino and enter another. I've expanded your suggestions beyond just switching TABLES. I now sometimes think about how the casinos can take such big loses daily from me and I realize that the players who aren't using your system are the ones who are supplying the casinos with the money for my wins. I suggest every player get your books, tapes and NOW DVDs! The only worry I have is that if too many people know your strategies of gambling success, the casinos would soon go out of business because of all the people taking payouts instead of paying loses. I used to think that your books, tapes, and NOW DVDS were expensive. I now wonder, what was I thinking? I challenge anyone to find an investment that pays off even 1 percent of what the JOHN PATRICK SYSTEM did for me!" Mick Schofield ========================== It is total BS. I know for a fact. I wrote it. I was at his message board and a lot of people were posting negative things about JP which were all being deleted seconds later, including my own. I then decided to write the outrageous nonsense you see above. Not only was it not deleted, it was elevated to the absolute most premiere area of the site. I have confronted JP on this many times about him knowingly posting a false story. He knows the testimonial is bologna but he refuses to take it down. From what I've seen of his products, his central advice is to change tables when you are on a losing streak, the DISCIPLINE he keeps harping on. His self testimonial "I may not win much but I don't lose much either". This is the most positive thing I have ever heard him say in reference to his own track record. Not really much of an endorsement if you ask me. Seriously, I would bet with no fear of losing, that JP's record is of a slow gradual losing of money. Sometimes up for a while, usually down. The overall situation a constant descent. I don't know how he got so well known to be able to write and sell his useless products but that is his true winfall.

The Patrick System is first-rate,
By
This review is from: John Patrick's Craps: So You Wanna Be a Gambler' (Paperback)
None of the previous reviewers have mentioned the most important thing about this book: the Patrick System. This method of playing craps, which he explains about two thirds of the way through the book (and which begins with the brilliant move of betting both the "Pass Line" AND "Don't Pass" at the same time!!) gives the bettor the lowest vig (best odds) against the house of any system I know...
