5.0 out of 5 stars John the Revelator is at the top of the mountain!
This song stands alone in my mind as the high note on Depeche Mode's latest album, Playing the Angel. The song captures that classic Depeche Mode sound with a modern twist. Martin Gore's spiritual lyrics coupled with Dave Gahan's vocals and the hard hitting electronic sound takes your ears for a great ride.

The re-mixes on this single are second to none...

3.0 out of 5 stars tiefschwarz makes it worthwhile
DM will stay the best band 4ever, no matter what, but these remixes are not very impressing (all the remixes for the Angel.singles were flat, except the jacques lu cont mix for A pain that i am used to and some suffer well remixes like tiga's or m83's) the same case here: even UNKLE couldn't make an interesting remix for such a great song, the only tracks i really enjoyed...

The re-mixes on this single are second to none. They take the original song and almost suceed at making it better! If you are a fan of remixes than you must make this purchase. If you are a fan of Depeche Mode you have to own this selection.

Those with the affliction DMOCD can understand the need to have all and every possible remix. As this is my favorite song off of PTA, this is SOOO amazing <3

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Remixes, September 1, 2006
This review is from: John the Revelator (Audio CD)
I thought this CD is much better than the other PTA CD's mainly because there isn't a bad remix. The other CD had great remixes but there are a few disappointments. The Murk Mode Remix is the best. The Dub Mix (last track) is very good too. The UNKLE mix is fun also.

What is it with Depeche Mode remixes and how they all sound the same? They've been doing this for 15 years now. On top of that, they will have four cd releases of one song remixed in ten different ways . . . and they all somehow sound the same. I feel as if they are taking advantage of the average fan.

I'm not buying these remix albums anymore.
