When I discovered that Lang's "Four Seasons" calendar for 2011 was NOT using the artwork of John Sloane, I was disappointed - until I found that Amazon is carrying a calendar by the same name (different publisher) which does indeed use delightful paintings by John Sloane. Our kitchen has been graced with Sloane's annual collection of country charm, nostalgia and rich color for several years - and thankfully 2011 will be one of those years as well.

Sloane's tasteful paintings show the natural beauty of the countryside - farm, home, roadside - and the people who live there (usually dressed a la very early 20th century) doing the things that people in the country do to work, play and celebrate the seasons. And if you are a fan of farm animals, you'll be happy to know that horses, dogs, and so on do appear in these paintings. One can tell that John Sloane appreciates country life: the paintings always have an upbeat, cheery quality to them. We look forward to seeing the new one at the beginning of each month.

The price here on Amazon is so reasonable that I've just ordered a second copy of this calendar for the kitchen of our home-away-from-home.

A note to those who display these calendars in frames - this calendar was a tight fit in our frame, but I trimmed one edge ever-so-slightly with a scissors, and the calendar now fits and looks just fine!

I am so glad that they still created the calendar despite it not being through Lang. I have been getting the calendar for 15 years and keeping the months I like to put in frames to change out through the year. I do have to trim the page some for it to fit in a frame.

I have been purchasing the yearly John Sloane calendar for many years.
I have never been disappointed. Such touching, nostalgic pictures.

The Four Seasons calendar by John Sloane beautifully depicts life in the country. Each scene colorfully depicts a time still enjoyed by some, remembered and longed for by others. Time moves more slowly when you take a few moments to stare into the scene and allow your mind to wander. This is indeed the calendar for the busy person who needs a place for SERENITRY NOW! It ia a great value and the pictures frame well when the year is done.

Now that I am in my late 70's, there are few things that I haven't seen, done, or gone to.
However, at my breakfast table each morning, I look and look at the pages on the wall from this calendar.
It takes me back a good portion of those 70 years to enjoy memories of days gone by in my childhood.
What caused me to purchase this calendar was the picture of the sheets blowing in the wind. Took me back
to fond memories of folding sheets with my mother or grandmother and it was if I could really smell the
fresh air blowing through the line-hung laundry long before I ever had an inside dryer.
I believe the statement that "God is good" and each good memory I enjoy from this calendar is something
good that God has allowed us to enjoy the talents of Mr. Sloane, which He gave him.
Keep more coming, John.
Maybe you could develop a line of greeting cards with your pictures on them. I know I'd like that and could make your art work more available that others could enjoy.
Thanks for the memories!
JJ
