4.0 out of 5 stars Great recording, but not for everybody., February 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: John Somebody (Audio CD)
I bought this recording on vinyl in the mid-80s, and although it isn't something you can play every day, it is one of my favorites. Johnson takes sampled sounds (speech fragments, women laughing, ...), makes tape loops out of them, and then brings out the inherent musicality of these with guitar. Its wonderful. However, its not for everyone. (A friend of mine asked me, upon hearing it "Do you listen to this because you think its interesting, or do you actually LIKE it?". Of course I actually LIKE it! I love it.)

4.0 out of 5 stars this is wonderful!, October 23, 2001
This review is from: John Somebody (Audio CD)
scott johnson does some very interesting things in this work. i have never heard anything quite like it. there is a lot of really rythmic breaking up of simple human voices and using it as a beat for the rest of the song. parts of it are really dark and mysteriuos and others are happy with bubbling laughter, but the whole thing has a kind of mystic and dischordant overtone. you should definately get this album.
