Just bought and installed these security bars after a break-in yesterday via basement level window. Although not impossible to get in now past these bars I can say it would be certainly a lot of work.

Installation was pretty straight forward. They can be installed either horizontally or vertically. My install was vertical and with the bars extended it covered a 28 by 38 window easily.

Only $34.00 at Home Depot. Was able to pickup in store to avoid any shipping costs.
