I learned on these books waaaay back in the earlly 1960s. They're still a great approach to learning. And now that I teach, I use the whole series - in addition to outside pieces as part of the transition away from them - to expose students to the wealth of music Classical composers gave us, many of which have no contemporary equivalents.

The Schaum Piano piano series is a very professional, methodical, yet uncomplicated way to learn piano. I am teaching myself (with occasional input from a neighbor who is an accomplished pianist) and preferred to explore the traditional routine via Schaum, the one my children used when they were learning, instead of the methods typically used for adult courses. I have been able to complete fluently, with practice, of course, the various levels beginning with the most basic with very little difficulty because the instruction is clear and there are diagrams and pictures to enhance understanding. Schaum has been in the business of educating budding pianists for many, many years, and that is obvious from the systematic approach taken in the books. By starting at the beginning of each book and working my way carefully according to instruction through each piece, I feel very comfortable and confident by the time I get to the end of the book.
The book arrived very soon after I ordered it, which I expected, because Amazon. is very reliable.
