Number One Design Masterpiece to Treasure for 2008 -- Dan Crowe "Wallpaper* Magazine"

About the Author

Todd Oldham is one of the most beloved and mediagenic designers working today. Originally a couture fashion designer with several stores in New York, and a commentator on MTV's House of Style, Todd's career has evolved to include all areas of design, from film and photography to furniture and graphic art. Todd appears frequently as a consultant on NBC's Today, as well as on MTV's enormously popular Crib Crashers, for which Todd redesigns teenagers' homes in the likeness of their favorite stars' abode. Oldham designs his own line of dorm room furnishings for Target in addition to a line of furniture for La-Z-Boy, and he is currently developing a television series based on Handmade Modern. Most recently, he has become a contributing editor to ReadyMade magazine. He lives in New York City.

Cindy Sherman was born in 1954. She began her "Film Stills" series at the age of 23, gaining early recognition, and has followed it with remarkable experiments in color photography. Her art has won her wide recognition and praise, and been collected and exhibited by major museums throughout the world since 1980--key early shows included a first survey at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, in 1982 and a retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1987. Sherman is the recipient of a MacArthur Foundation "genius" award, a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, and the Guild Hall Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award for Visual Arts.

I am so pleased with this item!!! I am an avid fan of Mr John Waters, and all of his works. My collection would not be complete, without this magazine.

It is soooo righteous! All of these photos of HIS HOME, his crazy crazy collection of weird vintage stuff. His porn, his literature, his knicknacks (his house is full of glass food!). It's just fabulous. Get it now.

If you DON'T know who John Waters is... but you like interesting voyeuristic ventures into a complete strangers interesting, flamboyant, original, awesome private home... then you too will dig this excellent bit of media. ;>

Book review / show and tell of John Waters Place Space book. Words by Todd Oldham and Cindy Sherman. Positive review! Book is a show and tell of the contents of Waters' home in Baltimore, Md. A hide-and-seek, look-and-look again visual showcase. Highly recommended for fans of apartmenttherapy.com, or anyone who likes peeking into other people's homes.

5.0 out of 5 stars John Waters Place Space November 2, 2008
Format:Paperback
Every John Waters fan must own this! I feel like I'm peeping through the windows of his house spying on him. How cool is that? Fake plastic food, kitschy collectibles, and a library that puts mine to shame. Highly recommended from a huge Waters fan!
