5.0 out of 5 stars Johnnie Johnson Always A Sure Bet
I love all the songs on this Cd but my favorite is Tossin n' Turnin'. Phoebe Snow takes it to another level. Just listen to who else Johnnie has playing with him -Buddy Guy, Al Kooper Jimmy Vivino, John Sebastian and many more. What a bargin to have all these great artists together with Johnnie. Fantastic

3.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected
I was extremely disappointed with this CD. If you are looking for just Johnnie working his magic, don't get it. The only tracks that are truly "his" are "Real Good Woman", "If You Love Me Like You Say", "Kansas City", "I'm Goin Fishin" and "I'm Mad". They are fantastic and perhaps worth putting up with the rest of the album. The only other track that was a pleasant...

The only other track that was a pleasant suprise was Phoebe Snow's vocal on "Tossin' and Turnin'". It was nice that she came out of retirement to do that cameo-I adored her back in the 70's. Basically the CD seemed like a disorganized potpourri of various vagrant, unemployed musicians jumping on Johnnie Johnson's bandwagon and slopping up HIS CD which is advertised in such a way as to make you think that he does it ALL. Five tracks, folks.

You would have thought that Johnnie would have put a stop to all the interference but he was an easy-going, sweet guy, bless his heart, and probably didn't mind. But I think that Mr. Johnson was one of the greatest blues pianists around and that it was an insult for him to not get the limelight. It was all so unprofessional and slapped together like a baloney and mayo sandwich-just yucko. I would say that it might be worth buying for those five tracks that I mentioned plus "Tossin' and Turnin'" but the rest is garbage. Sorry to be so harsh but ... I wanted 12 Johnnie Johnson tracks, not five.
