an americn original!!,
By "pspa" (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Johnny Cash - The Man in Black: His Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This magnificent 2 CD set would almost be worth the price just for the immortal words at the beginning of the first track, Hello, I'm Johnny Cash, which of course is how he began his famous concert at Folsom Prison, with an extraordinary version of Folsom Prison Blues that is even better than the original. The great songs are here: I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire, Big River, Sunday Morning Coming Down, Jackson, and there is so much more, including a remarkable duet with none other than Bob Dylan, and a couple of tracks with Waylon Jennings. The distinctive, macho, voice of Johnny Cash and his guitar strumming are American institutions, and I maintain that noone in country music has ever topped him.

This CD, as anyone can tell, continues the dark, sometimes brutally honest life of Johnny Cash. Listen to it. Feel it. -John, PA

A great collection from a great artist but (and with all respect to Mr. Cash) nobody does Folsom Prison Blues better than Native American artist Bill Miller. Sorry Jay Rudin but you should drop this one from your list of 25 songs that nobody else should sing.

I was hooked on Johnny Cash the first time that he walked out on his TV show and said, "Hi. I'm Johnny Cash." At the mere age of 4 I considered myself to be a "Highwayman" also. I wore black for years because of Johnny. I was the Trent Reznor of my middle school.
