Finally, a good Johnny Cash Book!,
By
This review is from: A Johnny Cash Chronicle: I've Been Everywhere (Paperback)
I purchased this book at the famed music book store, Helter Skelter in London May 2003. It is now available in the US. Very essential book if you really want to verify the cities and dates that Mr Cash performed over the course of his active touring career that ended in 1997. It is interesting to note the different type venues he performed in as his career went thru various stages of commercial appeal. There are also occaisional notations about particular shows. Finally, there are some very nice photos and reproductions of concert posters.

This book chronicles the career of Johnny Cash. It lists his tour-dates, record releases and career highlites in chonological order. I love this book as it is easy to identify events in his like in relation to other events in his personal life. I would love a book like this that also would list events in his personal life, and changes to his touring bands.

Good Book . . . But Not Complete.,

This review is from: A Johnny Cash Chronicle: I've Been Everywhere (Paperback)
This book has alot of information on tours, recordings, etc., but it is NOT complete. I saw Johnny Cash perform at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas (I still have the advertisement) on March 26, 1988, and it is not listed in the book. I very much remember the show because he was ill and took requests from the audience. It was the only time (from 1985-94) I heard him sing "A Boy Named Sue" live. It was also brought to everyone's attention by Cash that Col. Tom Parker was in attendance.
I'm sure it would be very difficult for the author to list "everything" on Johnny Cash, so keep that in mind if you purchase.

I found I've Been Everywhere an amazing book. It is hard to believe that
anyone, even Johnny Cash, could have performed in some may places over so many years. It is also fascinating that Peter Lewry found a source to record all of the many stops on every tour through forty years. I am a true Johnny Cash fan and even I was surprised that Johnny really had been everywhere. |
