Johnny & the Gnome is a book that blends fantasy and reality to spark the imagination and encourage children to look at the world in a new way. It is designed for fun, yet contains lessons about keeping secrets from parents, revenge, harm in teasing, correcting mistakes, and underestimating people. The book can be read alone by children ages 8 - 12, yet is equally enjoyed by children 4 - 8 when read with an older member of the family. From the Author
Johnny & the Gnome is my first published book and the first in a series of books to come. It was inspired by the beauty of California's central coast area and the closing of a large military post. The names of the human characters in the book are those of my family. (The characters themselves, however, are fictional.) "Johnny" is the name of my brother and father, both of whom I still tease, with love, even at the age of 38. The characters Jarrod and Austin are named after my two sons. Future books will highlight each of the children and their experiences in "Ord". The stories will web together, covering the same four day period. I enjoy getting e-mail from my readers and try to answer them all as quickly as possible. I especially enjoy participating in classroom projects with teachers or students. I own a copy of this book and think it is awesome. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. I like the way Johnny made jokes- I understood them. I also liked how the book took place near where I live- every one else thought it was cool too. Me and my friends have already gone looking for gnomes. Sometimes, I would read it during silent reading in class, and I would burst out laughing. Then, everyone would turn around and look at me. Some of my friends have already borrowed the book from me and say that it is way cool. Everyone should read this book because it is way funny and you will laugh for hours. This is an awesome book that I am going to read FOREVER!!! Thank You For Writing This Book- Your favorite reader

I thought Johnny And The Gnome was fabulous. It was a humorous adventure that was hard to lay down. It was superbly written. I especially liked the way it showed a "normal" family life; with sibling rivalry. I think everyone should read it.
