Travel back in time when "R & B" was heard over the airwaves by legendary D.J. Johnny Otis on KFOX radio serving Los Angeles from Long Beach, California and on KTLA-TV.
I was amazed over the quality of the airchecks on this C.D.
Most of what you hear had to be recorded in the studio by Johnny Otis at various times when he did his shows and the selection is great.
If you heard his radio show or saw him on Television, it will be like going back in a Time Machine when you listen to this C.D.
If you weren't living on the West Coast these audio recordings are the best example of what was happening during the 1950's.
Included on the C'D. is Johnny's big hit "Willie & the Hand Jive" recorded live on his Television show.
There's also a recording of a remote broadcast featuring Johnny Otis & his band performing at a night club in L.A.
This is the only recording that is from a radio so you hear it the way it was heard by everyone listening to KFOX-AM as "Live" broadcasts were done over a phone line back in those days.
Buying this C.D. was worth the $20.00 and I hope there's more to come from the archives of the great Johnny Otis.
