Johnny was in my high school class at Granite Hills High School class of 1963 in El Cajon, California. Everyone has a high school buddy but Johnny was the entire classes buddy. Even the bullies had a smile for him because he had a smile for everyone. He knew as did we that he wasn't going to make it out of high school alive. It never stopped him from being the best tennis player in the district. Even when he was all puffed up with his illness he would go out onto the tennis court and play. We all admired him for his courage and I don't believe there was a single person in that class that wouldn't have given his or her life to see him saved. He was the finest young man I ever met. I'm sure that for some reason God wanted to start a tennis team and that is why he called Johnny. He stepped off this world and right straight into heaven. I will never forget him and his courage. Every time I start to feel sorry for myself and need to perk my self esteem up I think of him and realize just how humble we should be. He was an inspiration to say the least.

I could not put this book down until I had finished it. It is an amazing story of a boy who was diagnosed with leukemia at 11. He did more in the last few years of his life than most people do their whole lives. It is definetely worth reading!!
