4.0 out of 5 stars Johnny Reb : The Uniform of the Confederate Army, 1861-1865, May 31, 2000

Les Jensen well known from his series of articles relating to Confederate uniforms in the Journal of the Company of Military Historians provides an excellent overview of the uniforms of the Confederate soldier. Using often over looked issue records he lifts the veil on obscure facts relating the to the Confederate soldier's clothing and issues. His work dealing with the little understood Columbus Depot pattern is a real eye opener. Great detail is shown of the existing examples. He does not stop there, great photos and facts regarding the Richmond Arsenal issues are included in this work. I highly recommend this book to the Civil War historian, collector or reenactor. For the money it is one of the best references available.
