5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read Book
I read Johnny Voodoo for my 2nd period English class. I thought that it was one, if not the best book that I have ever read. It is about two outcasts who are brought together through love. It is more of a romantice book and some people are not in to them but if you are I think that you would enjoy this book. The two outcasts are Deirdre and Johnny and the story takes...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read Book, January 26, 2000
This review is from: Johnny Voodoo (Hardcover)
I read Johnny Voodoo for my 2nd period English class. I thought that it was one, if not the best book that I have ever read. It is about two outcasts who are brought together through love. It is more of a romantice book and some people are not in to them but if you are I think that you would enjoy this book. The two outcasts are Deirdre and Johnny and the story takes place in Charmette, Louisiana. Deirdre moves to Charmette from New York and she is very lonely there until she meets Johnny who is a homeless teenager. Deirdre classmates see them together one day and they make fun of her because some of the girls think that Johnny is good looking and they are jealous of Deirdre. So, she does not have many friends in Charmette. Deirdre has one other thing that upsets her and it is her father. He is not the nicest person to her and her mother died when she was little. But, like I said it is more of a romance so if your in to that I recommend that you read this.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must read!, January 26, 2000
This review is from: Johnny Voodoo (Hardcover)
Johnny VooDoo was by far one of the best books I have read. Not many books will get me reading to the point where I don't want to stop until it's finished. Dierdre is an outcast in her town. She just moved there and she has no friends. She feels all alone between her home and school worlds and her mother had died years before. Then she meets Johnny and everyhting changes for Dierdre and she learns a valuable lesson. True love always lasts. But is the love between her and Johnny true love or is it just a game. Will their love last?

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I had read this as a teen!, August 5, 2010
What a great surprise for a hot and steamy afternoon! I picked the book up to kill some time, maybe half hour or so... I mean, it is a book for young adults, and I am a 40 year old "adult." But I didn't put it down until midnight, the sun set, the moon rose, I forgot to eat dinner, and when I closed it, It was starving, and sleepy. And feeling fulfilled.
I highly suggest this book, especially to young women, and even young men, it has some great insight on the tenderness of the heart.

Going to recommend it to my son in a couple of years when he is heading into high school...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Literature, March 13, 2008
By
This review is from: Johnny Voodoo (Hardcover)
This is the most amazing, heartfelt piece of literature I have ever read in my fourteen years. I have read and re-read thousands of books, but never has one left me as speechless nor as breathless as Johnny Voodoo. I reccomend this novel to anyone who is in dire need of a good cry, or just wants to read something out of the ordinary, and something so incredibly written that it stops your heart, if only for a second with the many words forming such an experiance, such an indescribable tale. It is one of the best, if not the best novel you will ever let your eyes wander on.

4.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully written romance novel, March 12, 2000
'Johnny Voodoo' might be the best book i've ever read. The author does a good job of.. 1. drawing you in to the book, so you fee like you're actually right along there with Dedrie 2. Incorperates romance w/o makng it mushy 3. There's both depression and hapiness. it's an awesome book that I think everyone should read.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my FAVORITE book!, January 5, 2000
By A Customer
I love this book. The language is so rich and captivating. I can almost see myself there, and I can completely relate to Deidre. I've read this book three times since I got it two weeks ago. I tear through it, it's so good. I love Johnny, too, and the whole experience Deidre goes through is so heartbreaking and easy to relate to. If anyone who reads this enjoyed this book, too, I recommend reading any books by Francesca Lia Block, as well, because her characters are just as loveable and her imagery is spectacular, as well.

This book was excellent. It tells a story of love and hate for the same person. I was shocked by the ending and could relate somethings to my own life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Johnny Voodoo, November 30, 1999

I always seem to come back to this book and read it over and over again. The compelling atmosphere of love and utter revoltion combined with delicious details sucks me right into the story and I REALLY wish I was there. It's like I can smell the damp woods, it's wonderful! Too bad she had to have a father to spoil it all...
