I am a big fan of Marcus Wynne's previous books and have read them all more than once.

When I read the preview for "Johnny Wylde", I was a little dissapointed. I didn't like what appeared to be the direction the author was taking. But, out of loyalty, I bought the book, not expecting much.

I was wrong. I think this is Wynne's best work. The setting is a palpable thing, and the characterization is fantastic. Wynne paints the picture of a world very different from his previous works.

The story moves at a good pace, and the action scenes are well played out and believable.

I really enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to the next part.

Highly recommended.

If there is going to be a sequel OK. But this one Marcus was good, very good untill the end. I have to admit I found it dificult to except Nina. Nothing seemed right about her. Butch like. You left us hanging with the ending. Too many unanswered questions and unresolved issues. You are one of my favorite writers and I have recomended you to friends. Thanks you sir for many hours of pulse pounding reading. I look forward to your next book. I've read all the others. I need my fix!!! bill

Marcus Wynne's new book Johnny Wylde is the beginning of (hopefully) a new series with a new cast of characters and ruffians. I was delighted to see the return of Nina from No Other Option though we see her in a much darker light than before. This book serves as a slight departure from some of his earlier novels; imagine a pulp fiction novel combined with the feel of a film noir but with the action of a Jason Bourne movie.

Marcus' skill is evident not just in his descriptions of gunplay and violence but with an introspectiveness that brings his characters to life and draws the reader in. From the stripper who quotes Buddha and Miyamoto Musashi with ease, to the lady cop with her Glock .45 and the sunny SoCal assassin who likes her sharp knives, you will be left wanting more. If you've read Marcus' previous works, you will enjoy Johnny Wylde. If this is your first time with Marcus, grab a cup of your favorite poison, get comfortable and hang on for the ride because you're not going to get any work done.

Having read Marcus' previous books was looking forward to this one and was pleasantly surprised by the change in direction. The characters feel like they could step out of the pages / screen and be sipping their beers and coffee beside you; Johnny Wylde devolops as a complex multi-faceted person with his unique demons and dreams. The introspection before and after action and indeed the action itself is grippingly real and can only be described by one who has "seen the elephant" themselves.

Looking forward to the sequel!

If you love hardboiled noir, and thrillers featuring hard to kill, morally selective protagonists, than brother, have I found a book for you. Marcus Wynne's 5th novel, Johnny Wylde is a delightful mixture of genres, with the intense action, accurate (and even informative) descriptions of weaponry and trade craft his fans keep coming back for.

Over the years Wynne, himself a former paratrooper, and Federal Air Marshal, among other things, has developed a signifigant fan base among the warrior class. It's not uncommon to see pictures of various operators, decked out in kit and camo, in some remote war zone, throwing a shout out to their favorite writer. He wouldn't have so many warriors as fans if he didn't know what he was talking about.

The book itself is a perfect first step in a new series. It introduces the main characters, their flaws and motivations, and shifts easily from first person to third person and back again as the story unfolds. A fan of strong, beautiful women, and a devout worshiper of the Divine Femine, Wynne doesn't skimp when it comes to creating women you wish you knew. Nina Capusek, gunfighter cop of the female persuasion, which you may remember from two of his earlier books, has a prominent role. Alongside her are a kinky Russian mob boss, one perfectly perky, positively sunny assassin, and a Zen Buddhist stripper who is so both sublime, and serene. The only problem I had with these ladies, is deciding which one I liked the most.

Two things really impressed me with this book. One, the ease with which the view point shifts. Overall it's probably a 50/50 split between first person, and third person. However, we never really forget that the book is about one man, and the path he walks. Not every writer can pull that off.

Johnny Wylde

After some years of quietness regarding the publishing of new books Marcus returned to the writing-stage with a vengeance. After switching to eBooks and the publishing of his novel `With a vengeance' things went fast and the next one to be coming out was `Johnny Wylde'.

The book `Johnny Wylde' is the story about the adventures of the main protagonist with the same name Johnny Wylde and his friends.

Like with all of Marcus books we as readers get a glimpse into the shadowy world of professional violence and special operators. This all spiced up with chaotic gunfights and exotic sex. Reading the book you aren't just getting a look at how things unfold but you will get the impression that you are dropped in the middle of it. This way the book is in some way not just a good read but also kind of an experience.

What I like about the book is its style of short chapters telling the story divided by interludes which explain bits about the world of gunslingers. The interlude not just gives some explanation it also puts the reader in the right frame of mind to experience what is going to come.

This book is a great story, good character build-up, a nice insight into a world of which most people don't know much about and great action-scenes.

I highly recommend the book to anyone who likes the special operators action genre, likes to read about gun and knife fights and enjoys a great story!
