"A Walk to GOD", April 6, 2010
This review is from: John's Quest (Heartsong Presents #794) (Mass Market Paperback)
The story was about John finding his way to find God and open his heart to it. It was about Monica who was deceived by her previous boyfriend, and it was hard for her to trust another man. She took her blind nephew under her wing when her sister left him at her doorsteps and left. It was about Gina, Monica's sister who had to change her bad ways of living and stop getting herself into bad relationships. All the problems at the end of the book got resolved. It was a satisfying ending. When everybody placed their trust in God and prayed to Father, things got back on the right foot. I loved the descriptions because it took me right there to the scenes. I could have imagined myself at the ocean front enjoying the breeze and eating sea food. Most of the time, I do not read short stories because the story is not developed well. I was surprised that the story that Cecelia has written was nicely timed and did not feel as it had been rushed. It was nicely developed. Just at the beginning of the story, I have felt that the attraction between hero and heroine was starting to move too fast. Hero's baldness to get closer to the heroine who was a stranger to him was less believable to me, and heroine's trust to people she did not even know for longer than fifteen minutes was also strange. But there are people who move fast and feel strong attraction, but I would not say the same thing about people who are in their late thirties like hero and heroine in this book. But it could have been true as well. I liked the story. It got a bit emotional towards the end when Monica formed a strong bond with her nephew, and it was really hard for her to lose that bond when mother came back into the picture again. I did hold my tears from not crying. But something was amiss for me. I cannot really say what. I am trying to think hard to say why the story would not be rated five stars, and it seems that I cannot find the words to explain myself. It has to do more with my taste for stories and things that really capture me. I was not at the edge of my seat and not strongly curious to know what happens next. It was not intriguing. But anyway, I did enjoy how Cecelia tried to explain existence of God to agonistic people. I took a few pointers myself, since I get across a few unbelievers from time to time, and we discuss religion. Also, in life people have doubts, so I like the way that Cecelia lead the conversations. I have felt serene reading the first story. To the writer: I do not know why your publisher said that scenes were too hot. Whatever you left out, it did not feel too much. The strongest word that has been used was the word "enticed". The rest was just hugs and kisses. A really clean romance with a spiritual walk with God!

A Simple Quest for God's Love, January 3, 2010
This review is from: John's Quest (Heartsong Presents #794) (Mass Market Paperback)
Cecelia Dowdy's writing abilities are outstanding! She knows how to make God's light shine through the pages of John's Quest, a book that will be in her upcoming release, Chesapeake Weddings. Cecelia brings Monica and John, two very different people, together in an unexpected way to help each other out and through these two very different people, she teaches us about the importance of completely relying on and surrendering ourselves to God and His will for us. And in doing that, we might just find out that our dreams will come true. In my opinion, Cecelia Dowdy is an author worthy of many praises for writing a wonderful, inspiring five star book. Highly recommended! *This book was provided for review by the author*

A Sweet Story, April 22, 2009
This review is from: John's Quest (Heartsong Presents #794) (Mass Market Paperback)
"John's Quest" was a little away from the genres I usually read. It is a cozy Christian romance novel that teaches us about the powerful Love of Jesus. That is near and dear to my heart. Monica Crawford is an independent woman who lives her life for the Lord. Because of her sister having a serious addiction to drugs, Monica is forced to take in her nephew, Scotty. He is blind which offers many challenges, plus his mother, Gina, has never taught manners and values to Scotty. Monica, with her Faith, begins to give Scotty the Foundation he can walk in, but the sister suddenly wants him back. What should she do? Scotty is better of with Monica, but Gina is the mother? Will Gina forsake drugs and find a cleansed path with the Lord? John is a scientific man whose parents were agnostic until shortly before they died in a car accident. Angry with God, it is difficult when he meets Monica and falls for her. Her rules dictate that she will not yoke herself to man that doesn't Believe. Will John make an attempt to find the Lord or will Monica be heartbroken at another decision he might make? This is a short read and I know Harlequin romance readers would enjoy this book. Thank-you Cecelia Dowdy for the privilege of reading your book. May God bless richly bless you.
