I had not had much experience with bandaging until our aging dog had surgery which resulted in a wound that would not heal on her elbow. We went through about 14 months of bandaging trial and error and became "experts". We found that this Kling wrap was an important part of our doctoring kit. Front elbows on dogs are especially difficult because dogs rest on them and they flex a lot: the worst possible place for a wound. Normal bandaging will fall down and you need something stretchy that you can wrap snugly, but not tight. We alternated each wrap - while still covering the wound on each pass, we would wrap mostly above the elbow on one pass, mostly below on the next and did about 8-10 passes in this figure 8 mode. (There is also a product called DogLeggs which went over the back and covered both elbows, utilizing velcro and stretchy neoprene, it provided a good dirt barrier and extra padding. We put this one over the bandaging which featured a pain relieving triple antibiotic, a non-stick gauze pad, this Kling wrap and tape.)
