For the collector or admirer of fine English earthenware, the Old British Castles collection from Johnson Brothers offers a full range of dinnerware and accessories. Each piece depicts a historic British castle set in an 18th-century landscape, with the name of the castle and year of its setting inscribed at the bottom of the scene. The Old British Castles earthenware collection comes in either blue or deep pink on an ivory background.
This 20-piece dinnerware service includes four of each of the following: 10-inch dinner plate, 8-inch salad plate, 6-inch soup bowl, teacup and saucer. Each piece is richly rendered with a lavish border around a central castle. Despite the antique look of the dinnerware, which sets a formal, traditional table, Old British Castles pieces can be heated in the microwave, stored in the freezer, and plunked into the dishwasher for easy cleaning. --Ann Bieri
