Scenes on the individual pieces depict English engravings of a snow-covered village, autumn mists, a covered bridge, a hay field, a village green, and an old school house. Each scene is framed with a leaf-and-branch pattern around the rim, completing the rustic look. Friendly Village by Johnson Brothers, introduced back in 1952 depicts engravings which reflect English craftsmanship. This unique and traditional look recreates a "friendly village" at home that warms your table or hutch with country charm all year round. Each piece depicts a different part of this warm and welcome place. Scenes include Autumn Mists, Covered Bridge, Hay Field, Lily Pond, School House, Sugar Maples, and Village Green. The 28 piece set includes four of each; 10 inch dinner plate, 8 inch salad plate, 6 inch soup/cereal bowl, 6 inch bread/butter plate, 8.5 inch rim soup, tea cup and saucer.

Although made in China now, the Friendly Village collection has maintained its lustre and its charm. At prices like these, who can resist?

Even more beautiful than antisapated. Simply gorgeous. Wanted to use for everyday dinnerware, but this set is too beautiful for that. I'm making room in my China Hutch instead.
