Product Description

Blue Willow by Johnson Brothers offers a romantic imagery of a legend based on two Chinese lovers. The deep blue on white pattern features intricate double borders with a combination of geometric detailing for a fabric like texture. The central imagery depicts a Chinese landscape with bridges, houses, a river, and trees. Two doves - reincarnations of the fugitive lovers can be seen at the top of the picture, living "happily ever after".

1.0 out of 5 stars More from China, May 4, 2010
This review is from: Johnson Brothers Willow Blue 13 Piece Tea Set (Kitchen)
I have loved Blue Willow for ages. Bought a set years ago. Recently I was going to purchase a tea set. On the bottom of the pieces, it is stamped "England", but not "Made in England". On the boxes, you will see "Made in China". Wedgewood went into administration the early part of 2009. As a means of boosting profits, they outsorced to Asia: China. Even though I wanted to add to my collection (all of which say "Made in England" on the bottom) I refused to purchase these beautiful British pieces made outside of Britain. Some things need to be left made in Britain, the US, Germany, Italy, France, etc.. Too much is now made in China for my taste.

On a brighter note, these pieces are the same quality that Wedgewood has produced for over 200 years. If you don't mind Chinese copies of a time honuoured British household name, you will love these. Otherwise, try Spode's Blue Italian, or some of the collections by Portmeirion: all, to my knowledge, is still made at Stoke-on-Trent, UK...for now anyway.

Bought this on line because it
remined me of a set my Mother-in-law
had when my children were young.

It is a beautiful set and we all love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it., November 21, 2010
This review is from: Johnson Brothers Willow Blue 13 Piece Tea Set (Kitchen)
I actually bought my set from Macy's. It looks Chinese and Western at the same time and so gives an eclectic accent to the decor. I keep mine displayed in my living room by a dragon picture and a Chinese doll. I am weird but I think it is kind of cool that it is "Made in China" because the story it depicts is, after all, a Chinese story (although there are European versions of the same story, which just makes it all the more eclectic!)
