The Johnson Country Mile is the worst reel I have ever dealt with. It hung up right after taking it from the box so I pulled on the line a bit and it has never been able to reel the line in ever since. I called johnson and they wanted to SELL ME PARTS FOR IT !!!!!!!!!! Needless to say this reel is now in the garbage and I will stick with Zebco for closed face reels from now on. I would rate this 1/2 a star if i could only because i recieved it quickly. Buyers beware.

I have used Johnson reels for many years as a recreational Bass Fisherman. I have found through my fishing that the Johnson Country Mile outcasts most open face reels I have tried or that people who have fished with me were using. Another bonus is the lack of line tangles that occur with most open face reels, which gives the Johnson reel user more time to fish!!
I would recommend the Johnson Country Mile for young or old people who want to really enjoy their fishing experiance!!

I purchased this new two years ago upon the advice of my grandfather, who has many reliable (albeit older) Johnson reels. This reel has been a source of constant problems despite being well maintained and is a far cry from the 20+ year old Johnson reels that my grandfather taught me how to fish with. Quality wise, it is severely lacking compared to the older Johnson products. My first reel that I purchased was a Zebco Rhino and it (despite being cheap) lasted significantly longer than this reel. Many people say how great Johnson reels are and while it may be true about the older ones people like my grandfather have, I certainly don't find that to be the case regarding these and won't buy a newer Johnson ever again.
