5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Size!
This guitar is a bad little puppy and I know anyone who picks will have a lot of fun with it! I bought it for my locker so I could practice at work... regular sized locker. Well, its small and though it doesn't stay in tune, nor sound very good, it is small. I vote for the Martin Backpacker.

This guitar is a bad little puppy and I know anyone who picks will have a lot of fun with it! I bought it for my locker so I could practice at work... regular sized locker. Compared to other similar travel size guitars, the Johnson was in my price-range and just the size I needed. I tuned it once and played the heck out of it. I checked the tuning several times while I was playing (the smaller and cheaper guitars are usually harder to keep in tune)and barely any adjustments were needed. I couldn't believe it stayed in tune!! For some people it may be hard to get used to the small body, but I adjusted just fine. The neck of it is just a tad bit smaller than a full-sized acoustic, so I had to adjust my fingers closer together.

Mine came with a nice little gig bag, and a strap. The strings seem to be okay but for more advanced players I'd recommend replacing them right away. Also you will want to spray or lube the strings asap as they are pretty sharp. This doesn't sound exactly like your full-sized acoustic of course, but it does sound really good for practice or any off-stage activity. This guitar would be great for over-head storage on a plane, locker storage, under the seat in a vehicle, or even under your desk at work. It's extremely light too! I'm very happy with mine!

I'm a beginner at guitar, but this one is easy to play and has good tone for a small instrument. It's nice to have something you can take with you on trips. The neck is a little narrower that my full size guitar, so there is some adjustment. Also, the small body takes some getting used to. I think it is a great instrument for the price.

First one I got was damaged and wouldn't tune. I contacted Amazon and they sent me a UPS label to ship it back for free; they also sent out a new one immediately. Returning it was a breeze.

The guitar is great for travel! It's small, but the neck is still that of a full-sized guitar. The sound is obviously not as loud, but that is to be expected with a smaller instrument. I have no complaints with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking to buy an instrument they can take along practically anywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat little guitar, March 13, 2010

I have two full-sized acoustic six-string guitars, but I bought this Johnson travel guitar to take with me in the family van that just doesn't have room for all our stuff AND a full-sized guitar. The quality of the guitar is surprisingly good and it seems to hold its tuning very well. The volume, obviously, is not very loud because of the small body, but that's to be expected. Warning: If you are used to a full-sized guitar it'll take you awhile to get accustomed to holding the small body in a comfortable position. Overall, though, this would be a great guitar for a beginner or a child and also a nice travel guitar at a reasonable price. I'm very pleased with mine and the carry bag is a great addition to the deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little guitar!, February 24, 2012

I purchased this travel guitar without having ever played one. My regular guitars are just too costly to carry when I travel. This Johnson JG-TR2 is just about perfect for my needs. The action and tone are great, it's intonation is close to perfect, and I've begin to use it as a regular back up guitar, not just for travel. I tune it to DADGAD when my regular guitar is ion the normal tuning. Nice work, Johnson! (and Amazon!)

I found the guitar, for the money, an excellent purchase. My only regret is that I thought the guitar was sccoustic/electric. This conclusion was drawn by another person's review, read before my purchase. Otherwise, no regrets. Would like to know if accoustic/electric is available, by Johnson.

5.0 out of 5 stars $99.00 What do you want?, May 19, 2012
This review is from: Johnson JG-TR2 Travel Guitar with Bag (Electronics)
I bought this at a local shop and am very pleased. It cost $99.00, so that is what you get; a $99.00 travel guitar. Could not be happier. NO IT DOES NOT SOUDN LIKE A FULL SIZE GUITAR, because it is a min-travel guitar.
- Better for traveling than my martin lxm. Lxm sounds just a tad better, but now i can take this on my motorcycle and go eat somewhere without being paranoid if someon wants to steal it.
- Good job Johnson!

1.0 out of 5 stars travel guitar, July 10, 2011

This instrument was disappointing. The neck was heavy and awkward so you have to use a strap, which seems kinda silly with a travel guitar... The sound was not very good.
