This Is is an addition to my main remote and works perfectly. If you are a serious fisherman you must have an I-pilot!

The i-Pilot is a wonderful technology upgrade for Minnkota's trolling motors. It offers many advantages for the serious fisherman. It has only one drawback, that being battery life. The remote's CR2450 internal battery lasts only 65-75 hours because of the continuous communication between controller and remote. Once the remote loses battery power, the trolling motor is dead. No steering or motor power unless you've purchased the optional foot control. Changing the battery requires disassembling the remote, and that means six screws and juggling parts -- not so easy if the water is rough. This has happened to me twice in the first season (last year). A second remote, learned to the controller, is the perfect solution.

So four stars because the unit should be rechargeable.

SUPER BEING ABLE TO GET THIS REPLACEMENT SINCE MY BOATING BUDDY LOST MY ORIGINAL THE FIRST TIME WE USED THE MOTOR. CAN'T RUN MY MOTOR WITHOUT IT AND IT WORKED GREAT! MINN-KOTA CHARGES TOO MUCH SO APPRECIATED BEING ABLE TO BUY FOR $30 LESS. SERVICE WAS GREAT ALSO SO VERY HAPPY WITH THIS REMOTE!

There are no after market remote controls for the i-pilot, therefore if you need one you have to have it. The buttons are a bit hard to push due to the rubber cover and the printing on the buttons is hard to see as they are black on black. Some units are not completely waterproof so avoid exposing to water. Freight costs to Australia are very low through Amazon.
