2.0 out of 5 stars JNJ Tough Pads - Stick to the wound
I bought these rather expensive pads for my son's scraped knee after reading great reviews but it completely failed.

After cleaning the wound I warmed it in my hands for about a min and then applied. It stuck very well compared to other pads and I could see a cloud forming on the wound after few hours. But when I removed it next day, part of the pad got...

I have been using these for eight years. The first trial did not go so well though that was more likely at my own fault. Since then I am much more careful with significant scrapes and wounds.

Though this is a review for the larger pad, the rest pretty much do one thing right: they minimize immediate and eliminate long term healing pain. With scrapes that go beyond the superficial dermis layer, I noticed a problem: white blood cells would seep out to fight infection, though there was no scab to allow it to do its job. Instead of the scrapes drying out, they would just ooze white blood cells for days...
Thankfully with this, it acts as an artificial scab that is flexible and will never crack under any condition. The cushion it provides when the adhesive comes in contact with fluids from the wound is indispensable. Ive noticed healing time is shorter than with traditional bandages and if you wait long enough to remove the bandage, it will almost seem as though a miracle had transpired: the cut or scrape has disappeared!

I am writing this after a tumble I had while I was snowboarding. The pain from the scrape was pretty bad and I was sure it would leave a gnarly scar but after having changed the bandage, I'm confident there will be no scar. The best part is if disinfected properly, scrapes that would otherwise be susceptible to infection are completely protected from external bacteria. Advanced healing bandages are a product I will keep in my medicine cabinet for the rest of my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best product ever for blisters, February 5, 2010
This review is from: Johnson & Johnson Tough Pads, 4-Count Pads (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)

I had never used these until a week ago. I had to buy new boots for my uniform and they tore up my heels pretty bad. I went straight to the nearest drug store and bought everything they had for blisters, including these Band-aids. these were the last ones I tried because I didn't think they looked like they had enough padding. I was SO wrong! These are BRILLIANT!!!! They act like natural skin, and absorb any bodily fluids to create a padding like a real blister would, but these don't hurt. The who9le surface is adhesive, which worried me a bit, but it's not sticky to the point it hurts to remove. I was so impressed and pleased with this product, i went out and bought another 4 boxes for any future boo-boos :)
These are the new staple to my medicine cabinet, replacing all the other band-aid things i used to buy.
THESE ARE AWESOME!!!!!

This works great on cuts and scrapes that are not deep. You just put it on and go about your everyday chores. I changed mine after four days and by then the wound was healed. You can wash dishes, take a shower, etc and the wound is protected. I just love it for minor cuts. But the directions say do not use on deep puncture wounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars life saver for a runner, December 21, 2009

I am a runner who has to have orthotics because of severe over-pronation. The new orthotics gave me bouts of huge blisters that often reached the size of two quarters and were too large for the blister bandaids that I usually use (also highly recommend). These are the ONLY things that saved my feet. They stay on the soles of my feet for 2-3 days with no problem, even remain sealed to the skin in the bathtub or swimming. More amazingly, they're not terribly difficult to remove. I keep these stocked in my medicine cabinet and leave a box with my running gear all the time now. They're a Godsend!

5.0 out of 5 stars a miracle worker, December 12, 2008

I love these patches.
A couple of years ago, I fell on my concrete backdoor steps. I ended up with a hole just below my knee. All the skin was stripped off of an area about an inch and a half in diameter. The wound was more than 1/16 of an inch deep. There was no skin left. I am an older woman, and diabetic, so I had quite a bit of concern about infection and healing. I cleaned my wound thoroughly, and applied one of these patches. Abut 4 or 5 days later, I removed the patch to see how it was doing, and was very surprised to see that the wound was granulating in from the edges, and was very clean. I applied another bandage, and again left it on for several days. I did this about 3 to 4 times. Today, there is no sign of the injury except a slightly paler area of soft skin. There was no infection, and no scaring. Although what is there is considered a scar, there is no apparent difference in texture from the neighboring skin. I have used these patches in other instances, though not as serious, and have had the same results. I think they are an outstanding product, and well worth the price. And the price here, was very reasonable.

5.0 out of 5 stars There are two products I have ever unequivocally endorsed in my entire life and this is one of them, June 8, 2011
This review is from: Johnson & Johnson Tough Pads, 4-Count Pads (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
Although to be fair I'm only 23 so maybe there hasn't been enough time for lots of product endorsement. I called Johnson & Johnson after I used this thing to see if they wanted to sign me on as a sponsor but they didn't really like the commercial idea I pitched them so they said they'd call me back. For the record the commercial I came up with based on true life events was when I was barefoot running and like 2 miles from my house I step on an old tree stump, but like one of those tiny tree stumps that's only a couple inches wide, and the wood jams into my heel hardcore, and then I limp home with no shirt, shoes, or cell phone, leaving a bloody trail behind me. Here the camera would be like in a big Michael Bay action movie where it's all shaky, I can't remember the technical name (not a filmmaker, more of an "ideas" man). Then I would get home and take a couple shots of whiskey just like in real life and pull the wood out of my foot with tweezers, and then I would walk to the Walgreens on the corner and buy a big band aid made for feet called the Johnson & Johnson Tough Pad, and then put it on my foot and be cured days later. The camera would follow me the whole time; it would be very introspective and modern.

HOWEVER, the guy on the phone did NOT like the idea. I think they were concerned that 3 consecutive days of air time would be expensive on a major network. Believe me folks, THEY CAN AFFORD IT. I saw a documentary made by the owner of Johnson & Johnson's son last year, and he's like this super WASPy guppy going to like fencing class and stuff, talking to all his other rich friends about how stupid being rich is. The documentary was cute in a made-for-high-school-AV-club sort of way, I can't speak to the kid's future as a filmmaker, but the point is that I think they could afford the commercial time I suggested, especially because of the superb selling power of seeing a wound heal in real time over a series of days. For this reason I give the Johnson & Johnson marketing team a 1 out of a total of 5 stars for lack of openmindedness and poor/rude telephone manners, but I give the Johnson & Johnson Tough Pads a 5 out of 5 because I have a wedding to go to this weekend that I can dance at now since this thing healed my cut super fast. It's my daughter's. Just kidding, I am a plus one, but I think its important that every one has fun once in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing healing/anti-pain/anti-scaring pads, April 12, 2010

I found out about these pads almost 4 years ago when I had gotten into a motorcycle accident. I had road-rash across 50% of my back. The doctor wrote me a prescription for a large canister of Bacitracin (think Neosporin), and told me to layer the Bacitracin, gauze pads, and ace bandages over my wounds. I was supposed to (or have someone else) change this daily.

After being in severe pain for about 4 days, getting sick of changing the pads, hating showers, and seeing zero improvment, I searched for a better way.

I found these pads (back then, they were called Johnson & Johnson Advanced Healing), and never looked back. It took about 4 boxes to cover all of my wounds, but the pain was gone, I could take showers again, I only had to change them every 3 days, and every time I changed them - I could see improvement.

After only a week, the wounds were significantly healed, and after 2 weeks, it was 100%. As it is right now, there is no visible scaring on my back which is truly amazing.

My only complaint is that they need to make these things in larger sizes.

I have used this product for several years. I am 80 years old taking a blood thinner and have wore out skin. I am constantly tearing my skin. I apply this healing pad and leave it on until it starts to come off. When it comes off there is little or no evidence of an injury. I think it was made specially for me. THANK YOU JOHNSON & JOHNSON

These bandages are wonderful. The product description is completely accurate, but actually leaves out the best part; they only need to be changed every three days or so. Not only do they adhere well, they are easy to remove, and the wound heals cleanly. I am completely sold.
