She's still very tiny and we are still working on getting her to sleep through the night, so when I read that this bodywash/shampoo is supposed to help babies sleep better, I didn't think twice before ordering it. And It was a great decision!
We use it every day for pre-bedtime bath and she seems to be sleeping better than before. She's more relaxed and doesn't toss around as much as she used to. Before she'd fuss around and wake up every 15-30 minutes, and now she sleeps peacefully, only waking up once for her 4 am feeding. I wasn't sure if it was the calming effect of the lavender aroma in this body wash, or just the change in her routine brought about by the 5th month mark, so I tried switching to another product for a couple days, and she definitely slept worse! After three nights of almost constant tossing and turning, we switched back to this one and, honestly, I am not brave enough to ever try switching again!
The lavender aroma is wonderful. Not too strong, but pretty long lasting (I can still smell it on the baby in the morning). It has a soothing and calming effect on our baby girl, she falls asleep in my arms even before she's done drinking milk. I also love the fact that it isn't greasy and doesn't leave any soapy residues on her skin. She splashed it into her eyes many times and didn't even blink, so I'm guessing the "no-more-tears" formula really works.
I'll be sticking with this product for as long as I can. We also got the lavender baby powder from Johnson's and it smells just as wonderful.

1. None, really
We use this on our 6 month old every evening after her bath as a nighttime routine, and have been doing this since she was about 6 weeks old (did the same for her older brother, who is now 5 and still gets an application of this lotion nightly). Whether the lavender scent really helps her sleep better versus a lotion with no lavender scent... well, that could be debatable. The "clinically proven" statement on the lotion bottle that claims to help babies sleep is likely based on several studies that show a slight decrease in cortisol levels of people (and babies in the J&J funded study) when exposed to lavender scent. It is speculated that the decreased cortisol correlates with a relaxed state, and thus will put you to sleep and give you a better night's sleep.
Now that being said, we applied this lotion like crazy to our fussy infant between the ages of 2.5 months to 4 months in a vain attempt to get her to sleep, with no significant increase in time between feedings at night, and my wife and I were zombies for those 10 weeks. Magically at 4 months the baby began to sleep for 5 hours stretches at a time and my wife and I regained some sanity. Now at 6 months, the baby sleeps for 10 hours at a time.
Will I say application of this lotion at night had anything to do with anything? No, other than it kept her skin soft. And the baby sleeping longer is just the natural course of things as she grows. But the nice smelling lavender scent doesn't hurt anything... and maybe the main purpose is to have the soothing smell of lavender waft off the baby as the exhausted parent holds them, and help calm the poor parent who has to get up every two hours to feed/soothe the crying fussy baby.
The smell is my favorite part, it is a sweet, but not "perfumy" smell, just like a fresh baby should smell. Im not sure if it's the lotion or the massage that works, but he always falls right to sleep afterward.
I bought this bigger two pack, because sometimes I like to use it myself, as it is very light and does not leave a greasy residue, yet keeps skin moisturized well.
I will probably continue to use this great lotion long after my son is no longer a baby
