I am an African-American woman with 4a/4b, very dry, relaxed hair. Joico's Silk Result line is perfect for helping me stretch my relaxer for MONTHS since I refuse to relax every time I get a growth spurt of hair... and if you take vitamins and moisturize properly, that can be quite a lot and very expensive. The first time, I actually just tried the shampoo and conditioner on a whim, since they were in some kind of holiday package on sale. I was blown away with how my hair actually seemed to change texture in the shower upon application. Lots of slip due to the silk amino acids and botanical moisturizers probably have a lot to do with that, as well as not using super hot water.
Although I try to avoid sulfates in products since they are drying and I have dry scalp/hair, the Silk Result shampoo isn't sulfate-free but is gentle and does not seem to over clean the hair leaving it 'squeaky', which is a plus. It's a perfect balance and is only enhanced by the conditioner. Although wonderful, if you're looking for moisture the conditioner is more for the smoothing aspect of styling, it isn't going to quench your hair so perhaps trying your go-to deep conditioner beforehand would provide more hydration. The Silk Result line works very well in a regimen for a habitual heat-styler or for someone who might have looser curls and just wants some smoothing and taming action. All in all, a GREAT buy. If you like it and want an investment, I suggest finding it in the two-pack or a 33.8 liter salon size when they are on sale. I got an economy size just last week for $14.99 at Ulta and am one happy customer!

I have super thick corse hair and this conditioner is great at controlling the frizz and actually conditions my hair so well that I do not have to use anti-frizz or conditioning serums after blow drying.

I have very thick course hair and it's hard to find a shampoo & conditioner that makes my hair manageable and soft. I used to use Goldwell but it was over $30 for a medium sized bottle so that was out. I searched for a new shampoo after grocery store products were leaving my hair looking like straw. This stuff worked after just one use and I'm a believer. I'm going to continue buying this as long as the price stays reasonable. I just wish someone in my area sold it so I didn't have to order it. I waited almost a week for the conditioner and it felt like the longest week of my life!
