Book Description

October 1, 2010
"Joining the Dance of Life" is a simple yet profound book which will help us be mindful of the simple joys we overlook daily.

Each brief chapter contains an inspiration poem, contemplative questions, and a reflection, as well as space to journal.

Most of us aren’t able to vacation at the ocean or retreat to the mountains every day, but spending a few moments each morning reflecting on "Joining the Dance of Life" renews our awe for creation.

I invite you to come on this thirty-day journey to a happier you!

Welcome to the dance of life!

“Life is so much more rewarding when we focus on the positives … reminds us to look for the good in others and offers a path to adjusting our view even during difficult times.” — John Buck, Executive Director of Turning Point

“With this daily guide, Cindy glides us through our human challenges with a lightness of being akin to the joy of unrestrained dance. Through her poems and reflections we learn that with mindfulness, a kind heart, and love for our fellow beings, we have all of the instruments we need for a happy and fulfilled life.” — Douglas D. Harding, Legal Consultant for nonprofit companies

More About the Author

My desire is to share how Jesus is alive and well within people who face the challenge of caregiving for elderly parents or adult children with severe mental illness. The focus of my ministry is assisting churches with outreach services and spiritual support for people with mental illness and elderly parents with a major diagnosis and their families.

"I remain in awe and admiration of Cindy's commitment and compassion for people less fortunate. Through her writings and presentations, she offers us unique insights -- developed over decades of observation and practice -- into the challenges faced by people with psychiatric disabilities."

About Cindy

For more than 30 years, Cindy Tuttle has been dedicated to enriching the lives of adults and children who are mentally challenged or suffer from mental illness. She began as a college student, working as a Special Education intern at a Sacramento, California public school for students whose challenges ranged from autism to Down Syndrome. "I had entered college as a music major, but during my freshman year, I dealt with mental health issues of my own. It was after that experience, that I realized God had a different -- and very unexpected -- plan for my life."

After earning a degree in Human Services from American River College, Cindy both worked and served as a volunteer at hospitals, mental health facilities and outreach programs in California and New Mexico. From 1993-2009, she was a staff member at Turning Point in Sacramento, which provides psychiatric services, support and advocacy for people working to overcome the effects of mental illness. "I did just about everything in my years at Turning Point, from driving a van to running an employment program, leading support groups for family members and developing a faith sharing group for the residents."

Cindy has served on the Sacramento County Mental Health Consumer Committee and Mental Health Advisory Board as well as its Older Adult Committee, which advocated for the services needed by older adults with severe mental illness. She has twice been named the Advocate of the Year for Sacramento County by the Mental Health Association.

Today, Cindy has turned her focus to assisting churches with outreach services and spiritual support for people with mental illness and older adults with a major illness and their families. In addition authoring four books, Cindy writes about Christian events and community news in the Sacramento area for the San Francisco edition of Examiner.com and is a regular contributor to Big Blend Magazine.Cindy has been published in eighteen periodicals.
