BLOOZEVILLE STATION,
By Jukebox Dave (RECORD TOWN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Joint Was Rockin (Audio CD)
CUB KODA AND THE HOUSEROCKERS-THE JOINT WAS ROCKIN': Rowdy, rude, raucous, raunchy, and raw are just some of the adjectives (and at that, only the "r" ones) that describe this live match-up of Brownsville Station bad boy/music historian/blooze basher Cub Koda and late slide guitar legend Hound Dog Taylor's backing duo, the aptly named Houserockers. Literally ripping through a greasy grabbag of RNB standards including the mighty Mar-Keys instrumental LAST NIGHT, the Elmore James-associated SKY IS CRYING and DUST MY BROOM, and Hound Dog's own GIVE ME BACK ME WIG, Cub and company expertly channel Taylor's roadhouse pyrotechnics and goodtime groovin'. If you love yer blooze down 'n dirty, not saccharine and streamlined, then slap this puppy on and let the houserockin' begin!! Trust me. You can HEAR the sweat!
