Needs drilling to install,

The bar is attached to the joist by four big bolts, not screws. So you
have to drill holes in the joist. Also, the bolts provided were not long enough to go through the joist. I have standard 2" joists. So I bought four bolts and nuts (3/8" diameter, 4" long, coarse pitch, cost $2.50 total at Home Depot). Would have been nice to get the right bolts included. Having said that, the pull-up bar is great, really solid, and using bolts (rather than screws) means you never have to worry about it ripping out of the wood.

Quick delivery, perfect packaging. The bolts were too short to go through a 2x10 the short way - most mounting must be to a 2xsomething, so that should be fixed. But otherwise all is great. Just gotta use it more. I can't even do 10 straight pullups. Love the options to do pullups, chinups, spread pulls, and side pulls.

The bar is sturdy and offers different grips for different pull/chin ups. I also like the grips that are in the bar for each position. I ended up reinforcing the studs to support my weight (215lbs) and so far everything is working fine. My only complaint is the same as everyone else: The bolts will not fit through standard studs; however it was a simple fix (about $4) at the hardware store. Once they correct the bolt size, everything will be fine.
On a side note if you are not great at pull ups you can purchase pull up bands that provide assistance through different size bands that you wrap on the bar and your knee/foot. You can use the different size bands until you can accomplish the amount of pull/chins ups you want on your own. This creates more space then purchasing a pull-up assist machine. I use the bands on this bar and it all works fine.

After reading a few reviews on Amazon I expected to run to Home Depot to purchase some longer bolts required for installing the bar to my ceiling joist, but bolts that suited my needs were already included. So, I was already surprised, 'cause someone reading these reviews is actually doing something about it! More importantly the bar has multiple grips, is very sturdy and arrived without a scratch and in a timely manner. All said, very happy I made the purchase.

good quality. sturdy with installation. needed 4 longer bolts due to the basement beam thickness - about 1, 1.5 inches longer.

Good bar, terrible packing,

Excellent, solid, and heavy duty. Dimensions are perfect, materials seem high-quality. Some quality control issues (e.g. holes on bolt-on plates don't line up perfectly) but not a big deal.
Only problem, appears to have been packaged by a chimp. It was sort of swaddled in crumpled cardboard that looked like it had been used several times already. Much of the hardware had come loose and was scattered throughout the packaging and one of the locking nuts had been lost. So, order the bar, but plan on a trip to Lowe's for replacement parts (tip: the nuts are 10mm 1.5)

I was using a door-mounted pull-up bar during p90x workouts. I felt the range of motion was restricted and wanted something more serious. After looking at several pull-up bars, I ordered this one. After it arrived I could not install it. I'm ok with minor handy work, but installation of this pull-up bar was beyond me. I got professional help where they went beyond the recommendations and added additional support by cross linking joists thereby absorbing even lateral, rotational, or swinging stresses. The result was a very sound installation. Please note that the screws provided are short. The neutral bars are a plus. The wide stance is really wide! This would satisfy most exercise buffs. Look forward for better results!

The pull up bar is great. easy to install. But the bolts were too short for our beam. Easy fix.

Great product, easy to install, durable, and has variety for different style pull ups. Hands can slip a bit if you are sweating at all, but gloves can fix that problem. Overall, I would recommend.
