5.0 out of 5 stars Jolie's Surrender, May 15, 2002
This review is from: Jolie's Surrender (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
I loved this book. I was impressed with Jolie's strength and the way she got
on with her life despite the fact she lost Alvin when he broke up with her.
Jolie had a lot of stress and trauma to deal with at a young and
impressionable age. She seemed to have had some issues with trust but
resolved those issues. I particularly like the fact that Jolie was
non-judgemental towards her young brother and was so supportive of him and
his girlfriend. Alvin is a guy who despite the macho world of professional
sports, showed a wonderful sensitive side towards everyone. Youngsters,
friends and family alike. A number of the problems Jolie and Alvin faced
came from outside forces, out of their control, but despite these, both
ended together happily ever after. A great plus for readers who love
basketball as well as a terrific romance story!

5.0 out of 5 stars I want more of Jolie's rolling thunder!, April 9, 2002
This review is from: Jolie's Surrender (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
I read Jolie's Surrender from end to end in two days. It's a real page turner. I'm a male reviewer. This novel has a great collection of real life value nuggets sprinkled throughout it. The love scenes are hot (WARNING: blazin' hot). The passion was thunderous in the love scene after Jolie's near-death experience (whew...where's the fan!). The story also reinforces the differences between the female and male species. Alvin (lead fella) had to work damn hard to solve the complex Jolie-equation. It shouldn't have to be that hard ladies! Alvin's prize, however, was well worth the wait. My judge of a good book are the ones that keep me thinking about the chapters long after I'm done -- I am still thinking about Jolie's Surrender one week later. A very good read from Edwina Martin-Arnold. I'm buying Eve's Prescription now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! If there was an Oscar award for books....., April 9, 2002
This review is from: Jolie's Surrender (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
I recently read "Jolie's Surrender", and I found it to be most enjoyable. I usually do not read romance novels, however, "Jolie's Surrender" has converted me. The novel consist of an extremely well written plot, instead of the usual 'moan scenes'. Although those types of scenes are there, they are well placed, and within the flow of the story. After reading "Jolie's Surrender", and reading the reviews for "Eve's Prescription", I am defintiely going to run out and buy it! I highly recommend both books!

4.0 out of 5 stars Communication: Love's enhancer..., June 8, 2006
This review is from: Jolie's Surrender (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
As "Jolie's Surrender" will confirm: Relationships require open and frequent communication. It saves a lot of time and heartache.

Lack of communication, lost letters, foolish goodbyes and mistrust were the components that kept Jolie Smith and her soul mate, former NBA star, Alvin Guillory estranged for more than 15 years.

Persistence, forgiveness and accountability for one's actions would offer them another chance at happiness and love.

Mrs. Arnold is so on point! I enjoyed the basketball backdrop, the character development (Ms. Ethel, the elderly neighbor had so much wisdom!) and most importantly the romantic and passionate love scenes. The heat between Alvin and Jolie practically scorched the pages! Great book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the romantic tension bewteen the 2 main characters. It's a great story about love lost through miscommunication, and how fate eventually brings you back to the one you love. Ms. Martin-Arnold knows how to write good romance!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Such a Befitting Title, June 19, 2008
This review is from: Jolie's Surrender (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
This was a nice story of love that truly never died. I like the way that Alvin never second guessed his love for Jolie. Jolie, on the other hand, was a different story. She gave Alvin and everyone else a hard time. There were a lot of bumps and bruises between Jolie and Alvin. In the end she finally stopped running away from her feelings for Alvin then we were able to "Bring on the happy ending"
