Because our home has composite tile floors on which our toddler knocked his head a number of times to our great distress, we decided to purchase two (2) different-style head protectors (in case one didn't work well, odds were that the other would likely suffice).

The soft cloth helmet, which I am now rating, cost approximately $15 USD (if my recollection serves me), while the other cost approximately $52 USD.

Although the less expensive unit looks amusingly like a diaper on our son's head -- compared to the other, more expensive and stylish "motorcyle officer" type helmet -- through many hours in action and countless knocks minimized, we conclude that both helmets serve their purpose equally well.

Beside price, the only effective difference we note is that the less expensive model offers better ventilation / cooling properties than does the more expensive one. This is important to us to preclude overheating of our little man's yet immature cooling system.

We very much like both models, however for both price and functionality, we find that the less expensive unit offers the superior value.

I bought this item for a child who likes to bang her head. Every time she wanted to bang her head I put the bonnet on her, she hates the bonnet so it has helped reduce her desire to head bang.

I highly recommend this head cushion. It works great for my 10 month old baby. I don't have to worry when he is playing by our furniture, or sharp corners. It is worth the money. My husband loves it.

My son has started walking extremely early. He is ten months old now and has been standing and walking for almost 2 full months and has bumped his head on just about everything! Both my wife and I spent a night in the hospital because my son was practicing his standing, holding himself up on the ottoman to our chair. He lost his balance and fell cracking his head on the corner of our coffee table in the living room which happened to be near by. He hit his temple leaving a baseball sized welt on his temple which also swelled. He screamed in agony so we took him to the hospital and ended up spending all night there just to make sure he was o.k and no concussion. Needless to say this little bumper Bonnet has saved us many gray hairs since then and most importantly protected our little guy's head!

This product is very cool. I love that baby doesn't get overheated and doesn't seem uncomfortable in it (or seem to notice it).
He moves around more than he used to because he's not slowed down with bumps and bruises. I don't have to worry as much when his siblings/the dog tip him over.

I took the advice of one of the other reviewers and switched the plastic clip for a velcro strap. I agree the strap that came with the baby bumper was unsafe, but it was an easy fix. There is a better way of doing this, I'm sure, but I found an easy no-sew cheat: I wrapped sticky-back velcro around either end of the buckles. Now the buckles stick together (and pull apart if caught on something). I just make sure the soft side is next to baby's skin. Despite this minor nuisance, I am thrilled with the product!

When my now toddler was first learning to sit up on his own, he'd topple right over. I'm sure most moms have heard that sickening thud once or twice. Our floors are tiling throughout the house. This little helmet saved his head more than once. No more bruises!

My 18 month old son has hemophilia and this soft helmet has been wonderful in keeping his head safe from bruises. Yesterday, he tumbled in front of the dresser and his head hit one of the glass knobs, if his helmet wasn't on he would have had a nasty bruise and possible hospital visit. I wish we would have had this for my daughter when she was his age. Oh and he loves to wear it! He wears it all day, except when sleeping and eating.

When my 7 month old started pull up on things i looked into items to keep those first few months of discovering and learning a bit more cushioned. I original leaned to foam mats but decided against it. Since our main room is multipurpose there wasn't much space to devote to an interesting play area. Baby would get bored and want to roam. So I decided on the bumper bonnet which can go everywhere with him. The design is simple enough that you could sew one yourself. Yes. He would try to ripe the the sucker off in the beginning and still does on occasion but usually doesn't as long as he is happily playing with something. His head is in the lower percentile so I had to sew one of arches together otherwise it would be too big. I figure I can take out the stitches as he grows. The bonnet has saved him when he gets himself under tables and then stands up: totally softens the "blow". My husband(and his friends with kids) thinks it is too ridicules and unnecessary so my son only wears it part of the time. he does just fine without it and survives the "blows" although I have to hear his poor cries. But for $15 why shouldn't i baby my baby a bit longer.
