Good return, but not as good as the originals,

This review is from: Jon Sable, Freelance: Bloodtrail (Paperback)
Have always enjoyed the Jon Sable series and read most of the old comics back in the late 80's and early 90's. Must say that I found this new series a little disappointing. The production values on this trade paperback seemed good. Pages are glossy and the book is bound well. Story was only average. Primary shortcoming is that it seemed like spent quite a bit of time rehashing Sable's history. While this is probably necessary since Sable hasn't been published in a number of years, I found that the main story of protecting someone from his past felt abbreviated and rushed. I suppose that's the downside of the limited series. Recently read some of the reprints of the old series and those stories flow much better since there's no need to rush the backstory. Good read for Sable fans, but if you're just starting with the character go with the reprints of the original series.
