Nicola Cornwall of the Phoenix Crime Book Review has read far more of the true crime genre than I. Her comment that "JonBenet Knows Evil Love" is perhaps the strangest true crime book that I have ever read." hits the mark about this slender, fascinating, look at an alternative psychological tool they call "reverse speech".

Reverse speech as a tool takes the proverbial "need to confess" to new heights. "Need to confess" becomes instead "physically compelled to confess" but, because of natural defenses, one confesses vocally, in code or, properly, backwards. Incriminating statements appear only when the verbal confession is played backwards on a recording machine. For example, "other" reads "rehto" which might be construed to sound like "right on".

Now that I have read the book, I concur with Nicola's assessment that by using this technology that eavesdrops on the unconscious mind, playing forward speech reversed, author Rubacher takes us directly and vividly into the crime scene. From her own mouth Patsy Ramsey confesses it is she who delivers the murderous blow to the tot beauty queen's head and Daddy in reverse speech, speaks out his lust for the baby.

The author is so confident of these "findings of fact" that he invited the Ramseys to dine with him. He wants them to listen to the "smoking gun" statements they made. I doubt if the parents will, innocent or guilty. But, Rubacher is sure and his premise is fascinating.

Rubacher told Howard Stern and Jeff Rense ("Sightings") that he prays every day for the Ramseys attorney to "phone me and say I am being sued for slander." I don't think that will happen either but it might.

I'm unconvinced and find it hard to credit the use of reverse speech as a psychological tool but I have no expertise. Others who are experts find "reverse speech" a worthwhile tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars The guilt of the Ramseys, September 4, 2006
By
Steven Cain (Temporal Quantum Pocket) - See all my reviews
This review is from: JonBenet Knows Evil Love (Paperback)
I have noticed Ramsey supporters repeatedly pouncing on any books that seem to address their guilt - this being another.

While the presentation of this book may be imperfect, the technology of Reverse Speech, developed by Australian researcher David John Oates, cannot be questioned. Oates himself has excellent credentials, having worked with a number of official bodies, including law enforcement agencies.

The Reverse Speech website reversespeech.com has a section devoted to the Ramsey case, and one of the most haunting audio clips is the one in which JonBenet's song is reversed, and played back at three different speeds. While the effect is unsettling, the words 'Mommy, now I know evil love' can be clearly discerned by the second time through.

Like Rubacher, Oates concludes that the Ramseys did not intentionally kill their daughter, a view held by many of the people who consider them to be in some way responsible for her death.

One of the problems with the book content is that there is no real background to the case, so the data appears in something of a vaccuum.

However, it remains one of the most intriguing insights into the case so far, and confirms the view that I have always held, that the Ramseys were responsible for the un-premeditated manslaughter of their child. The Intruder theory was provably nonsensical, and every single 'clue' that the Ramsey defenders have tried to cling to has been debunked years ago.

Not only was there no clear evidence of an intruder, it was physically impossible for a killer to have had such close and prolonged physical contact with the child and yet leave no clear, full spectrum DNA behind at the crime scene.

The suspect John Mark Karr has predictably turned out to be a nut job, and cleared completely of any involvement with the case.

As Rubacher, Oates and others have shown, despite the carefully orchestrated propaganda from the Ramseys and their lawyers, their own unconscious words have betrayed them.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Thoughts on Jonbenet Knows Evil Love, August 30, 2003

I have found this book to be full of interesting details. First of all, I have never been a believer in "reverse speech" tactics, well, until now. I am a personal friend of Mr. Richard Rubacher and I have been able to hear the reverse speech first hand. What I heard was not only amazing but quite FRIGHTENING as well.
In my opinion Mr. Rubacher has found the "smoking gun" evidence the people need to find JonBenet's killers and is entitled to the reward money.
According to Mrs. Patsy Ramsey "We feel there are 2 people on the face of this earth that know. And that is the killer and that person the killer may have confided in." What I want to know is how Patsy knows that is a mystery to me. Or is it? Two people? Can you guess who those "2" people are? I can!
There are a few things that caught my interest in this book. One was when John Ramsey slipped and said he went downSCARES instead of downSTAIRS. Another is when Patsy said during an interview " We were just frantic. And I immediately dialed the police 911 and she was trying to calm me down and I said my child had been kidnapped." What it says in the reverse speech is..SEAL THE LOCK(refers to hiding the body in the basement store room) YOU LADY MANNEQUIN(It is clear as crystal!) I heard that and I freaked out! It sent chills up and down my spine! There are so many other reverse speech "smoking guns"! Too many to write about. The Ramseys should have listened to their attorney when he said keep quite!
I liked the book a lot, but I would like to have read a little more background on the case. All in all it was definitely a mind provoking book that gave you much to think about, However sad it may be.

1.0 out of 5 stars Incomprehensible and, er, wrong., August 17, 2006
This review is from: JonBenet Knows Evil Love (Paperback)
Read the Book Description and please tell me if it is a translation:

"In "Closing Arguments," the Ramseys are tried in the Spiritual Court. The reader becomes a part of the jury where evidence is presented that a traditional jury is deprived of. The author has offered to break bread with the Ramseys. Should they accept the invitation for a rendezvous, they can hear the confession they made through their unconscious mind."

Is this rubbish really meant to be English?

Then there's the fact that the author has published THREE reviews below of his own book that are barely coherent. The fact he has befriended Charles Manson explains a lot.

Oh, and there's the small issue of the real killer being arrested in Thailand, months after the alleged killer, Patsy Ramsey, has died of cancer. Better get back to the drawing board and revisit this unconscious mind garbage Rubacher...

5.0 out of 5 stars the smoking guns found!!!, August 21, 2003

The author displays plenty of chutzpah by inviting the Ramseys to break bread with him. At his proposed "business lunch" Rubacher offer to play their hidden messages where Jon Ramsey confesses to his sexual intrusion of JonBenet.

The author displays more chutzpah when he told Howard Stern he "prays for the Ramseys' attorney to phone me with the good news that I will be sued for slander." If the attorney does phone him, Rubacher will request that Court TV cover the trial.

I sure would like to see this case go to litigation, as would many others.

The third example of Rubacher's chutzpah is his assertion that the reward money of $100,000 for finding JonBenet's killer should go given to him. In his book he asserts, "Jon and Patsy killed JonBenet. The evidence comes from their own mouth."

What astounds me is that the wire services have not picked up on these assertions. What also astounds me is that more people have not picked up the chant, "Jon and Patsy Ramsey, listen to your own words."

A criminal attorney should take Rubacher as a pro bono client in his civil suit against the Ramseys for the wrongful death of JonBenet or for a criminal suit. This would ensure the case is taken to court. I think it's time the Ramseys' have their day in court.

A writer reduced to posting a "review" of his own book on a retailer's site? Offhand, I can't think of a more self-serving action. Or one that shouts "Amateur!" more loudly.

If your publisher doesn't immediately give you a crash course in professional etiquette, it probably means that he or she has already given up. Trust me, appearing this desperate does nothing for your credibility.
