This book is a fantastic version of the beloved biblical tale of Jonah and the whale. It is humorous and a delight to read to children. They will become engaged in the story by becoming involved in the wonderfully detailed illustrations. They will delight in seeing the evil people of Nineveh kicking dogs and stomping on flowers! Gerstein has beautifully included the image of God subtly in each picture as He watches over Jonah's progress. In this story there are two fish, the first of which has been waiting since the beginning of time to swallow Jonah up. When he gets in side Jonah is surprized to find that the fish is spacious, well-furnished and that his needs are provied for. God realizes He will never get Jonah to do His bidding in such a comfortable fish, so he sends another, bigger fish to swallow him up. This fish is a mother fish filled with 36,000 baby fish. Just imagine the look you'll get when you ask your child if he or she would like 36,000 brothers or sisters living in their house with them! It is a wonderful story, beautifully illustrated and should be in anyone's collection of Bible stories. I've purchased it for myself, my synagogue's children's library, my daughter's school's library, and a for a friend!

The book was in very good condition. I expected it to come little bit sooner, but it came in a timely manner.
