I was unsure at what I wanted in a cable stripping tool. This tool offers the ability to cut Cat5 Network cable. It requires a little testing to get the cut level correct. Be sure you test it out before you want to install Cat5, you may find that the blade cuts the pairs if you set it to deep. I found that by decreasing the cut and having it score the cable opposed to cutting it, works better. You will have to pull the jacket but it works very well.

The best part of the tool, is the ability to cut RG59 cable to the perfect specifications for a compression BNC fitting. It will cut the black(or white depending on the cable color of your choice) and then it will do a second cut of the insulation to reveal the copper line AND then cut that copper cable at the correct length(1/4") for the compression fitting.

For reference, I used the compression fitting Amazon Search Text: B0063KE4I0
I used the compression tool Amazon Search Text: B0042PNZM4

The other plus is that if the blade goes dull, you can flip it and use the other side. If both go dull you can purchase a replacement. You have to like a tool that you can replace blades in and not ONE and DONE.

Top notch!!

I used this Jonard UST-500 on RG11 and RG6 coax cable and it worked great for both. I'm very happy with the quality and function and would recommend it to anyone.

Works great for everything however there are two annoying things (considering the price i would say its great for home use).

1. what you strip the coaxial cable it tends to get stuck between the blades, this is okay but it it occasionally annoying.
2. the depth screw for the cat cable stripper is super loose such that you will accidentally change the depth setting (a piece of electrical tape over it and you can set it and forget it).

I find Jonard to make some of the best quality tools out there. This coax stripper works great better than most other brands.

Works well on RG6,have not tried it onRG59. Instructions could have been a little better. Quality is good for price, and WAY easier and safer (for both you and the center conductor) than a razor knife. Don't get why there is so many reviews about this being dangerous and unsafe. This is like saying a knife or a gun is dangerous and unsafe. It is only as dangerous and unsafe as the user. If you are not being an idiot and spinning it really fast and let your finger slip out, you won't get hurt. Keep your fingertip slightly bent and don't go crazy spinning it. Just common sense - be careful when using sharp objects.

Excellent Tool. Cuts a perfect connection every time. I have only used it about 20 times. I believe that thing is designed to be used everyday.

I bought these instead of the DataShark kind because they were out of stock. These are cheaper and work perfectly! I used it on RG6 cable and then used "PPC Ex6xl Rg-6 Snap & Seal Compression Connector" and a "Monoprice Professional Compression Crimping Tool ". Works absolutely perfectly. This is exactly how the pros do it.
