As someone who isn't remotely in this band's target group, I was very pleasantly surprised,
This review is from: Jonas Brothers (Audio CD)
Two weeks ago, I noticed that an album from a group I'd never heard of debuted at #5 on Billboard's Hot 200 chart. (I'm finding this happening more and more these days - in Chicago, virtually all that any radio station will play is hip-hop or rap, and I just don't relate.) When something like this happens, I usually do a little background check, just to see who the group or artist is so that I can pretend to be the person I always said I would be 25 years ago: I wouldn't be like my parents; I'd grow with Music as Music itself grew, and would always stay with the current trends. Well, that didn't work quite the way I planned.
I digress. I looked these guys up, and immediately noticed their "resemblance" to Hanson. Kind of hard not to notice that. As Hanson somewhat recently released a *fantastic* album (Underneath), I thought I'd listen to a few clips from the songs on the Jonas Brothers CD here on Amazon and see what comparisons could be made. I was expecting an interesting and singularly intellectual comparison; what I wasn't expecting was that I would actually like what I heard. I *really* liked what I heard, so I bought the CD and during my first listen was surprised that I wasn't turned off. I had assumed that I heard their best in those short clips, and would regret spending my money on whole CD. Then I heard the first few chords of Year 3000, and I really took notice. That song hooked me from the second it started to play. I loved it. When I looked up the lyrics, I couldn't help but laugh a bit. They don't make a lot of sense (if any), but it must have been a lot of fun to write. Going through the CD a second and third time, other songs stuck out, and I realized that this was actually something very special. I don't know who's handling these three guys, but the production values and engineering on the CD is superb. Songs that have stuck out for me as very, very good are: - S.O.S. - Hold On - That's Just the Way We Roll - Hello Beautiful - Still in Love with You - Year 3000 - Kids of the Future With the state of music as it is today, I don't know if they'll see the kind of success that I think they deserve. I think that if this had hit the radio in the 80s or 90s, it would have been a HUGE success. We'll see. About one song: Kids of the Future. That's from the "Meet the Robinsons" soundtrack, and is a rewritten version of Kim Wilde's Kids in America, which was very successful for her in the 80s. It's been covered many, many times, but the Jonas Brothers do it justice. I hope that their debut CD is re-released. I'd buy it. (And I'm not the target group...so...)

A+ for Jonas Bros,

As a young adult, I listen to a lot of different types of music and I do admit to watching items here and there on Disney Channel. One thing I have gotten from watching that channel is learning about the Jonas Brothers. This CD contains many of the songs plus some that have been shown on the Disney Channel. I highly recommend this CD to anyone, young or old, who likes energic music to get them through the day. The Jonas Brothers' CD does exactly that!

I purchased this cd for my 6 year old son but find myself listening to it when he is not around. Nice sound. Clean lyrics. I really enjoy it and don't mind my children listening to it.

Lots of fun for kids and parents,

This CD was selected by our 7 year old. He and his 2-year-old sister really enjoy the upbeat, sing along friendly songs. The themes of the songs are sometimes silly, but this isn't for me. That being said, I do not mind at all having this CD playing incessantly in the CD player. The music is pretty good and it is something we can all enjoy. I highly recommend it for any kids that are looking for something that is just for them, but a little more mature than the "little kid" songs! It is a fun change of pace for all of us.

Jonas Brothers - Not just for the "teeny boppers",
By
This review is from: Jonas Brothers (Audio CD)
I first heard the Jonas Brothers at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2006, and while I thought their music was a little "teenybopper" for someone my age to be listening to(I'm 20), it was still catchy. When I heard the boys were coming out with a new album, I could barely wait to get my hands on it - and it has been playing constantly. The boys have definitely matured musically, and while they do have fun on tracks like "That's Just The Way We Roll," their songs have meaning: "Hollywood" and "Hold On." This cd is a must-have - even if you think they are out of your musical taste or age range, their cd is definitely worth listening to.
Favorites: "S.O.S." and "When You Look Me In The Eyes"

Music for the easily pleased,

Is there ANYONE on here who even has a clue what good music is? The Jonas brothers are NOT that. They're bubblegum pop pretty boys who have whiny voices and make crappy music. THe JonASS brothers, along with Lil Wayne and a few notable others, are the reason why mainstream music is failing today. Stupid lyrics like "She took me to the future in the flux thing", stupid simplified guitar riffs, you name it. And yet the reason the inbred, retarded fangirls like JB is because "THAY R SOOOO HAWT!!!!!!". Coming from a straight guy, I think they're hideous. Also, state your opinions and then the retarded fangirls will come and be all like "U SRSLY NEED TO GET A LYFE!!!!!" or "UR SO JELLIS CUZ THERE SO HOT!!!!!!". Us people who hate the Jonas BRothers need to get a life? Says the bitchy, ignorant fangirl who devotes their life to the Jonas Brothers.
Just stay away from this disney garbage. Do NOT let your kids listen to crap like this. Get them into GOOD music, like Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Judas Priest, etc. You'll be thanking me that you did.

Worth buying most of the songs,

I'm a Jonas Brothers fan so don't mind if this review is sorta biased. Their second album is as good as the first, if not better. Their music sounds more mature and Nick's voice has definitely broken. Friends no longer ask me if it's a girl's voice. This CD has a range of music genres from the ballads of "Hello Beautiful" to the upbeat "SOS" and the rocking "Inseparable". Of course there are certain songs that take a little getting used to, but overall, I rate it a 7/10. After all, they're just teenagers and they're gonna take over the music world :D I'm in Singapore and I doubt half the population even heard of them before. But I'm glad I'm a fan :)

a band/album my 12 year old sister and I can share and enjoy,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Jonas Brothers (Audio CD)
WHAT YOU'RE GETTING: high energy bubblegum VERY POP/rock from 3 cute brothers that makes tween girls faint. the cd has TONS of fun bonus videos/photos which stays true to the Jonas Brothers' fan-oriented success (the boys are known for being extremely personable, hence the obessional girl fan following).
WHAT YOU'LL HEAR: this band is geared toward kids and tweens (and the occasional high schooler who call the Jonas Brothers their guilty pleasure, like me). they're young, so don't expect "artistically profound" lyrics. but unlike most teen acts, the boys wrote (co-wrote 3ish songs) the entire album, which are SIMPLE yet CATCHY about crushes, breakups, girls, etc. my sister has been belting out their songs (year 3000 is a favorite) at department and grocery stores ever since we bought the cd... embarrassing at first, but now i just join in because their songs are just so much fun to sing. i do wish the songs were longer great tracks: SOS: very "sleepover dance party" type song. the youngest, Nick, wrote this all by himself, which really impresses me because remembering myself and others at 14, (or even my current friends who are Seattle music snobs and hope to be "big" one day) we could have never come up with something this good. year 3000: the lyrics are irrelevant and random but so much fun to sing along with that you don't care. Hello Beautiful: adorable; typical slow jam love song, yes, sappy and about love...something many of their fans might have not experienced but girls eat it up and its STILL lovely. Kids of the Future: my parents' favorite because they remember the original and we can all sing along together Hold On: perfect for singing along in the car Australia That's Just the Way We Roll Hollywood bottomline: an article correctly described the jonas brothers as "disney's answer to green day." this cd is for kids who are growing up and yearning for something "older" but still not old enough for the questionable lyrics of adult rock. my kid sister (a Teen Beat-magazine-buying, disney-channel-watching subject to the formidable disney marketing genius) and I ALWAYS fight about music in the car but this cd is something that we can share and bond over. Now I do have a history of loving boybands (NSync and BSB in elementary and i still do). Now I try to be mature and listen to the killers, imogen heap, switchfoot, decemberists and franz ferdinand but sometimes I just want to sing along to some good old melodic pop songs! in MOSTLY ALL cases, 18 year olds like me would brush off this disney affiliated band for being childish but for kids (especially girls) around 9 to 14, the Jonas Brothers are fun pop/rock, cute and age-appropriate. so if you're in that age demographic this is a 5 star record for you
