Book Description

1996
Jonathan Barrett - Gentleman Vampire
An EBook Omnibus of four novels:
Red Death
Death and the Maiden
Death Masque
Dance of Death

Jonathan Barrett burst on the scene in 1993, and now all four of his novel-length adventures are available together for the first time in this omnibus from DarkStar Books. The author’s revisions to the original manuscripts have added over 120 pages of new material to the saga!

It’s 1773 and 17-year old Jonathan Barrett is eager to leave for college in Boston—and lose his virginity—perhaps not in that order. His imperious mother has other plans though, sending young Jonathan headlong into life-changing adventure in far away England. There he meets the bewitching and irresistible Nora Jones, a society beauty who gladly initiates him to the arts of love.

Though many handsome young men pay court to the secretive Nora, Jonathan is her favorite, at a price. He unknowingly pays it—in blood—to the woman he loves more than life itself.

When war and revolution threaten his family, he sails home to Long Island—to tragically die at the hands of a neighbor turned rebel and thief.

But Nora’s dark gift does not allow Jonathan to rest long in his early grave; he returns to the world of the living confused, terrified . . . and hungry.

Follow this newly-made vampire’s dangerous journey through the darkness of death, war, and undying love in this ground-breaking, critically acclaimed series by P.N. Elrod.

More About the Author

I'm best known for writing THE VAMPIRE FILES, a series about an undead vampire Jack Fleming whose first case is to solve his OWN murder! There's 12 books and counting, as well as a number of short stories about his adventures.

In addition to writing, I've gone into editing and had the pleasure of working with the top names in urban fantasy with several award-winning collections.

Lately, I've just signed to edit a new anthology for St. Martin's called HEX SYMBOLS and signed a 3-book contract with Tor for a new steampunk series, ON HER MAJESTY'S PSYCHIC SERVICE. I'm currently working on the first book, THE HANGED MAN.

I consider myself to be danged lucky to have a job that I love this much!

There's a lot more info on my website: www.vampwriter.com and, yeah, you figured it, I'm on FaceBook. Far too often for my own good! Drop in and hang out!

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read, October 24, 2004
This review is from: Jonathan Barrett, gentleman vampire (Hardcover)
This book (a book club omnibus) contains all the books in the "Jonathan Barrett, Gentleman Vampire" series. They are:

"Red Death"
In this introduction to the series, young Jonathan Barrett arrives in London in 1773 to pursue his college education. His fate among the undead is sealed by the unnaturally beautiful Nora Jones, who seduces him and consumes his blood. Unbeknownst to Jonathan, he is no longer the same man, something he soon discovers upon his return to America to join the armed forces and defend his country. Rather than an appetite for traditional fare, he has developed a strange craving for human blood.

"Death and the Maiden"
Threatened by soldiers on the outside and turmoil on the inside, Jonathan Barrett valiantly fights to protect his family and the peace of the Barrett estate in this thrilling sequel to Red Death. Nearly consumed by his dark desires, Jonathan struggles to control his supernatural powers and his overwhelming thirst for blood while in the company of his immediate family and a scheming young cousin.

"Death Masque"
Continuing the saga of Red Death and Death and the Maiden, Jonathan Barrett returns to England in search of Nora Jones-for only Nora knows if his unexpected destiny is a blessing or a curse; it was her kiss that initiated him into the world of the living dead. Finding her missing, Jonathan steps up his hunt and in the process discovers startling secrets about his bizarre family as well as a malicious plot against him.

"Dance of Death"
Seemingly invincible since his transformation into a vampire, Jonathan Barrett must admit his own weakness when he unexpectedly meets a four-year-old boy who strangely resembles him. Armed with a powerful weapon to use against him, his love for his son, Jonathan's enemies have gained an advantage. The only hope for Jonathan and his child's survival lies in the return of the mysterious Nora Jones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this story, September 29, 2009

This review is from: Jonathan Barrett, gentleman vampire (Hardcover)
I first started reading this series years and years ago for a school book report and I believe at the time their were only two books in the series...maybe 3. Anyway I really loved the feel of the enviroment that the author put into these books. The way she portrayed the veiws of the Revolutuionary War from the side of the loyalists was outstanding. I love the way she builds her characters and their enviroments in these novels, I could truly feel myself becoming lost in her fictional world. In my opinion I would recommend this series to anyone who likes a good work of fiction. I say do yourself a favor and give it a read.
