5.0 out of 5 stars Old and New Jonathan Butler
This may turn out to be his best if not one of the Best cds in his amazing legacy. He combines his traditional roots with modern arrangements to produce an absolute classic. It is rare that every track on a cd is enjoyable and he decided to do more playing and less singing excellent deicision....highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars What happened?
What happened to Mr. Butler? Once a magnificent songwriter with great, spiritual songs & lyrics, now music that makes Kenny G look funky like George Clinton.
I wouldn't even abuse my elevator with this CD. I guy picking his guitar under 34bpm...all the time! How fun's that!?

Jonathan has done it again. My favorite two songs on this CD are "Mandela Bay" and "Baby Love". I enjoy Jonathan picking his guitar. His music has a way of moving ones inner soul - it reaches deep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy as always, June 13, 2005

I've been listening to JB's music for 15 years now and even tho' I tell myself I'll like the next album before I've listened to it, I'm amazed at just how much! I love this album and with only 2 of the 11 tracks being fully vocal, it's easy-going and chilled. 'Mandela Bay', '10 Degrees South', 'Sweet Island Love' and 'Baby Love' are upbeat (just the way I like 'em!) and with all but one track having been written by JB, this is the man at his continuing best. A nice mix of soul, smooth jazz, calypso(!), but what I really look out for are the tracks with that South African guitar sound - I'd be sorely disappointed if that was ever missing from one of his albums! If, like me, you have all his albums, this is a must-have for your collection - get it now and happy listening!

Jonathan Butler never ceases to amaze me. This albulm is so fresh and full of life! The songs are as bright and cheerful as the CD cover itself. There is a perfect blend of vocal pieces with instrumentals where you never tire of either. This is a must buy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, June 4, 2005

Beautiful! This is great high quality music! You cannot listen to this album without being spiritually touched. With this album Jonathan Butler shows he is a great guitarist and singer that puts his whole soul into to the music. Most of the songs on the album are such songs you want to listen over and over again.
This album is one of the best I've heard!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best guitarist EVER!!!!, June 7, 2006
This review is from: Jonathan (Dig) (Audio CD)
I,ve just recently jumped onto the JB bandwagon. Out of the three CD's I own by him, this one is definitely the best. And I've added all his previous stuff onto my wishlist, because I want all his stuff in my musical library.

His command of his guitar is by far the best I've seen of any guitarist. I especially appreciate the fact that he has not forgotten his South African roots. I find his percussions on each individual cut absolutely marvelous! I've always favored the saxophone-except when presented with exceptional musicianship, by a keyboardist or a guitarist, and Mr. Butler is definitely exceptional. His featuring several other artists on this CD was wonderful.

The only problem that I've had with this CD, is trying to decide which cut is my favorite. When I recommended the CD to two of my brothers, I told them that this is the very first time ever that I liked every song on a CD. Sorry, but as I listen to this CD over, and over, and over while using my computers in my office, I just keep changing my mind on which song is the best.

I can't imagine how he could ever outdo this CD-but I'll sure follow his releases closely to see if he ever does!
