The Heart of Edwards Life -The Word and His Method of Study,

This is a must have for anyone interested in understanding the mind of Jonathan Edwards. I read this book for a seminary class and expected it to be difficult because it is an academic text, however it was suprisingly accesible and the purpose caught my interest. This is one of the only thorough studies on Jonathan Edwards' hermeneutical method to studying the Scriptures, which were central to Edwards' life and source of his influence. I was impressed with the insights into Edwards' views of Scripture, revelation in nature, and how it emerged in his preaching. Studying the book of Revelation also involves use of OT and NT hermeneutics. Therefore the author gives a in-depth look at these chapters in Revelation, while also making broader observations to Edwards study method throughout the entire Bible.
For any student of the Word; For any who desire to see the glory of God in all of life the way Edwards did. |
