Mr. Fong's book has some very interesting ideas on wall treatments. The intructions for the treatments are fairly concise and easy to follow. The graphics are well done and the pictures lovely.

The only real issue I have with the book is that I have seen some of the same techniques used on two of my favorite home improvement/diy programs, "Trading Spaces" and "While You Were Out". Specifically, the "Hip to be Square" tiles in chapter 13 were used by designer John Bruce in season 3 in the "Atlanta Brutalist Beauty". Mr. Bruce has also used the "test tube" flower vase as a wall treatment. Hildi Santo - Tomas has used the corrogated cardboard on the walls in a guestroom, and records on walls. She has also used feathers, fake flowers, wine lables and chalkpaint with great success.

I do not regret purchasing the book, but I would also advise checking out the Trading Spaces books for additional ideas for unique wall/room treatments.

This book has lots of ideas, some quite unique, for decorating your walls. Unfortunately some are so unique that they edge over into the weird territory. In Fong's case, this happens with:

*the sticky note covered wall

*the compact disk covered wall

*a gray wall with a grid of yellow envelopes containing orange notes

*stapling pages of a book in a scattered way on a wall to make it look like they blew there from a book on the table

Maybe some designers are trying too hard to be novel and to stand out from the crowd.

I am not a designer or have even ever dabbled in it. But Jonathan's wall treatments are so creative and so easy, it has inspired me to redo the walls in my office. After centuries of two choices, wallpaper or paint, it's such a breath of fresh air to have these amazing new ideas.

Plus, Jonathan is a fantastic and funny writer, so the projects are not only easy to understand, but enormously entertaining to read about. Top it all off with the gorgeous photography and you have a book that wows on every level. Highly recommended.

I loved this book. The ideas were amazing -- I never thought I'd find so many creative ideas that I would be excited to try. The format is very thorough and easy to follow with great photography, so that even I feel I can actually do it despite not being very handy. And Jonathan's dry wit throughout makes the book a fun read. I'm sure I'll be referring back to this book many times over the years.

I thought this book had some really great ideas that were easy enough for anyone to do. With this book, no one has an excuse to live in a boring environment. This book not only had good ideas but it also inspired my own ideas of different wall treatments. It's a great book of clever ideas that does what a good decorating book should do. It inspires creativity and individualism.

"WALLS THAT WOW by Jonathan Fong is a wonderful book. The pictures are stunning. Mr. Fong's directions are clear and easy to follow. His Helpful Hints are just what they say: helpful; and it's amazing that he included methods for cleaning the walls. The little personal comments every now and then make me feel that I know him. Thanks for this fine book. Barbara Harmon"
