Last year, we bought Shady Nooks and just threw it out on the ground without much in the way of preparation - and our soil isn't that good... A mix of Georgia clay, moss, and fungus... It's a very wooded lot. Doing such a half-hearted job, we figured it wouldn't take or die... Lo and behold, not only did it take, it survived. I didn't buy that much last year, as I was just kind of experimenting. I bought and used another brand of grass seed from the store in another section of the lawn. That section isn't looking so good. So, I am going to buy more Shady Nooks and finish the job right this year.

I purchased this product for a Slightly shady area in my yard as part of my fall yard maintenance. This consisted of airiation, overseeding, starter fertilizer and organic top soil (yards of it)for my lawn. I used the "shady nooks" seed in one slightly shady area of my yard and I used Scotts seed in another slightly shady area as a comparison. Within two weeks, the area with the Scotts grass seed had sprouted and was developing very nicely. The area with the "Shady Nooks" seed yielded nothing. It has now been over a month since seeding and the Scotts is doing very well throughout the yard, including the shady comparison area. The "Shady Nooks" seeded area might have TEN blades of grass over a 20 ft by 20 ft section. Very Disappointing as I paid a lot for it and paid for shipping too as it's not Amazon Prime.
Promax (the seller) contacted me for feedback of their product after my purchase and oddly enough, in their message, they stated that if I was dissatisfied for any reason to contact them first prior to rating the product on Amazon so they could respond. I replied to them, provided them the same information I provided here and have yet to hear from them. That was weeks ago.....Hats off for all those who have had success with this product. Maybe I got a bad batch of seed...I will hope that is the case but am unwilling to throw good money after bad and with the sellers total lack of response, I've come to the conclusion that they just dont care about the customer... My neighbors LOVE to razz me about this and I am now the running joke. My one neighbor has even documented my plight and is putting it on Youtube and sending it to Scotts as a tribute to their products. At least someone got enjoyment from my purchase.....

I experimented with a small area on the Northwest side of my house that is constantly in shade due to the house and an adjacent conifer. I watered daily and grass was growing within a week. It has been two weeks now and the grass is a little over an inch high. I'm going to prepare and over-seed my lawn, and I will add to the review later this year.

Very good.
This is a very good grass seed. I have a clay dirt for a backyard and this seed has grown very well. Will purchase more to fill in back yard.

AWESOME Product
