Eric Perlin says:
I understand there was a movie adaptation in the 1970's, but it was a disastrously bad one with live action footage of seagulls with voices and narration dubbed in. The best way to adapt this book into a movie is with animation.

When Disney did an animated movie based on Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" in the mid-1990's, it seemed to indicate they were fresh out of suitable literary works to adapt to animation. Somehow, they have yet to consider "Jonathan Livingston Seagull", which is a far more fitting subject for an animated film than "Hunchback".
