5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, December 28, 2010

This review is from: The Works of Jonathan Edwards, volume 2 of 2 (Samizdat Edition with Active Table of Contents), improved 2/6/2011 (Kindle Edition)
This is a much better buy then "The Works of Jonathan Edwards" without the table of contents. I bought the other one first and it was too difficult to find my way around it. Just a warning though, the table of contents for Volumes I and II do not work like typical ones for Kindle books. You WILL NOT find it by using the menu button and then going to the "Go to" tab. The table of contents are actually at the beginning of the volumes themselves, and you are able to click on specific pieces by Edwards and be taken straight to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite up to the standards of Volume 1, February 17, 2011

The reason Volume 2 gets only four stars instead of five is because the publisher has raised the bar with the improvements he has made to Volume 1, which unfortunately draws attention to some of the minor inconveniences in Volume 2. In particular, there is only a single table of contents at the beginning of the volume, with only a single entry for each title. There is no breakdown into chapters or sections, which for some of the longer pieces like the "Humble Attempt" or the David Brainerd bio, makes navigation somewhat cumbersome.

Nonetheless, given the standard search and bookmarking capabilities built into Kindle, these inconveniences are minor. And any deficiencies are more than offset by the content available here. In particular, the "Humble Attempt" to encourage prayer for revival, and the "Life and Diary of David Brainerd," are (along with "Religious Affections" in Volume 1) must-reads for anyone who shares Edwards' twin passions for spiritual renewal and biblical soundness. In the end, regardless of any minor inconveniences, buying this volume may well be the best investment of 95 cents you will ever make.

This collection contains everything from Johnathan Edwards. I really appreciate his works and this collection captures them all. Also, putting those works in context through narration added a new dimnetion to his writings. And for the price, this is an outstanding value. Highly recommended!
