Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I've produced my writing as a small press alternative publisher since the early 1980's, I gained my first modest commercial success in the 90's but retired from active promotion to raise a child and work a day job.  I wrote late at night and circulated the writing among friends and strangers-I-met for fifteen years, until I morphed into an empty nester.

I now have four books available online in print and eBook format, the fifth due out in March 2012 and a sixth in May.  All told, there will be twelve books considered The Private Publications to be completed in 2013.

The Lent Hand is all-age narrative fiction strongly voiced which represents half of the collection.  Also available:  Joody (A Case Study in Post Dramatic Stress Disorder).  Coming Spring 2012:  Stainless Mary (Finding My Finitude).

The other half are Bedside Readers for the Adult Mind, sexotic and counterculture; not suitable for some.  Sweet Talkers (Words from the Mouth of a Pay-to-Say Girl); The Lunarium (One man's memories of the watchers and the watched) and Stoner with a boner (It's a Long Story).

Self-publishing is a perfect fit for me; I let Amazon and CreateSpace do the retailing and I do the designing.  I've always PRODUCED my work and encourage others to do the same, let it fly!

More About the Author

Kathleen K. has created a library of Private Publications available at KathleenKBooks.com. Her eclectic collection features narrative fiction centered on family life in The Lent Hand (Adventures in Beach Town Towing), literate erotica (Dark Prince, Heed Thy Queen) and the counterculture fictional memoir of Stoner with a boner (It's a Long Story).

The Lunarium, her vignettes of voyeurism, was Named to Kirkus Reviews' Best of 2013.

Transplanted to the Pacific Northwest from the Great Lakes basin, Kathleen K is a product of the small press/poetry culture with a background in alternative publishing. Her vivid use of language captures characters while life itself provides the twists and turns.

Her non-fiction book Sweet Talkers (Words from the Mouth of a Pay-to-Say Girl) is the true chronicle of a phone-sex business, now considered a cult classic. The book is out of print but never out of style. Intended for adults only, Sweet Talkers is available on-line as a collectible. Third Edition Spring 2012.

The rest of her work is make-believe. She makes you believe she's a tow truck driver who falls in love with a shattered family. She makes you believe she's a grocer with an after-hours fondness for pot and sex. She makes you believe she's an accountant hijacked in her car after work in her long short story You, Drive North.

Kathleen K. drops readers into situations as diverse as the world of Honey B., Sexual Consultant, and of Baby Girl Battersea, fatherless heir to a family fortune in the clutches of her selfish uncle. These books are not linked by theme or genre, this is a rich collection of all-age and adults-only offerings comprising decades of production. Info@KathleenKBooks.com

Sharp dialog, elegant prose and a sassy attitude give the audience credit for reading between the lines. Consistently praised for her ability to capture tone and emotion, Kathleen K. is a strong voice in contemporary fiction.

Becoming available for the first time in print and e-book format, these Private Publications are varied in topic but easily identifiable as Words Arranged by Kathleen K.

Joody is a real page turner - written with multiple perspectives from those who know her very well... When reading Joody you do not put the book down - with each page you gain a new perspective of this complex character - and when Joody has "her turn" you see clearly into the mind of a "interesting" character.

I look forward to the next book by Kathleen K - may I suggest a book which deals with how to outwit a serial murderer? I believe the content would be right up Kathleen's "alley".

Great Read!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read it online and it made my back ache from sitting so long just so that I could get through it. The story is written so well that you feel you know the characters, that they're real people and you want to know what happens next. It's a story that's witty, intelligent and real. It makes you think. Does she leave, what happens to everyone after...?? If there is ever a sequel, I will for sure get it.

It's about time that Kathleen came out of the closet with her writing. "Joody" is a young woman who will knock your socks off as she frustrates her sister, and her own children--and somehow gets away with it. It's been much too long since we've seen one of Kathleen's novels in print; read one and you'll be begging for more. Trust me, "Joody" is a winner; you won't put this novel down once you've read the first page. Darlene Cox, Writer
